So my dad's up in Rochester right now, working as the musical director for a show, right? Apparently, either the vice president or head assistant to RIT's president or someone showed up, spoke to my dad, acknowledged that I am going to RIT this fall, and essentially extended a job offer to me through him. Supposedly, this is the "highly coveted" position of executive assistant to RIT's president, a position that only ten students may hold. Dunno if this is a particularly good thing or not, given that I heard about this mere hours ago, but we'll see what happens.

Fuck if I didn't want that job. You get to hang out in the top floor of the Eastman building, deliver missives, and generally do paperwork and filing, but at a better pay rate than most of the other on-campus jobs. You'll also be able to generate contacts for future endeavors more readily, and get a nice letter of recommendation once you leave.
The clerical jobs on campus are difficult to get, pay better, and are a thousand times easier with better hours. They're basically the minor nobility of student workers. Lower down are the janitorial jobs. The bottom is food service. Your little plum is one of the best clerical jobs you can possibly get. The only thing better would be student management for groups like ITS or Tech Crew.
As soon as I am done making my character for the D&D game, I am heading to San Diego for 4 days of blessed gaming, drinking, and who knows what shenanigans! BOOH YAH!

I am officially proficient in BCAs, SDS PAGEs, and Western Blots. I ran six of them today, I will develop the blots on Tuesday. I will have to do 80 more within the next month. I am hoping to eventually run eight in a day

Why D&D;?
Because the people I role-play with are closed minded and won't try other systems. SoCal is a desolate landscape for roleplaying. :-/ I know nothing of burning wheel but I plan to learn at PAX. I'm also going to try the hero system in the next few weeks.

Hey, as much as DnD sucks in many ways, I had tonnes of fun playing it back in the day. People know it and it's easier to learn than Burning Wheel (for nubs).

Is it scary that I was able to pick it up relatively easily, having not played a single D&D; game in his life?
I was impatient, so I had my AP scores reported early over phone. Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Physics B were all 4's, and Calculus AB and English Literature and Composition were both 5's. I'm so happy right now.
As part of an effort to do something useful with all my free time during the summer semester I decided to start learning kanji so I could maybe actually learn another language. One month in I'm a fifth of the way through this (about 500 kanji) and it makes a lot more sense than anything I've tried before.
Just got an email from the features editor of Tiny Mix Tapes asking if I would send some stuff from my label his way for the Cerberus column and possibly for coverage in Signal To Noise magazine. Fuck yeah.

Yeah, the ride was that smooth. Once I deal with the bank and the DMV on Tuesday, I'll have the new hotness to replace the old and busted.
