You are exactly correct, Lady Macross, and I think we should leave it at that.
Anyhow, Today during class I backed up my data, Wiped my computer, installed windows 7, and got most of my apps installed as a well. The School's uber-high speed internet connection proved very useful in downloading all of my steam games in under 10 minutes! Anyways, I went and scoured 4chan for a nice wallpaper, found several, and this is what I picked.
If someone was 30 and they liked such images, I wouldn't find it it weird. If they used such an image as their desktop I'd find it a "bit weird" (the word "bit" was intentional). If they started a new thread in a forum because they were so excited about their new desktop image of a 15 year old girl, and posted the image twice? That would be a quite a bit weird, and I'd probably make a similar post asking about it.
Did I make the thread out of excitement of my desktop? I don't think so. I had a problem with the colors of PNG images being a bit warmer in tone than others.
@Kate: You have a really decent point. I guess I'm so used to questions like that actually being accusations, judgements, or the beginning of an open flame. I've liked many shows that feature Japanese characters who are older than they look - due to being a frequent watcher of anime, I've become rather neutral to that sort of thing. I'm also a (rare?) case who watches those shows because I find the writing funny/clever/etc and I like the characters' personalities. I watch those things for entertainment's sake and the thought of pedophilia (especially with the example of Spice and Wolf) never crosses my mind. Often when I delve into the fandoms, I come accross accusations and blanket statements that anyone who likes the show is a baby-humping sicko, and anyone making that assumption is inherently exalted on an infinitely higher plane of morality. I'm a fan of Lucky Star for example, and this seems to be the insult of choice to anyone who enjoys that show. I find that sort of thing particularly annoying in forums where I wouldn't really expect such accusations to fly, like this one. That leads me to jump the gun every now and then.
And yeah, I could just dismiss it as an ignorant and false assumption, but I'm rather prone to being confrontational. Either way though, I am sorry for making a false assumption of my own.

10 minutes is damn fast for a library of Steam games, my landline has been degraded to the point where I can't even access DSL, plus this single stupid street doesn't have cable (wired). I've been using 3g wireless broadband and it is achingly slow at times. I need to move very soon! But get a new job first
I'm really not sure about laying down the cash for Windows 7 straight away, I only just bought Vista Ultimate last year, before the Windows 7 rumours hit my ears. I might have to wait a bit for it.
@Sonic did you transfer from XP or Vista and was it fairly painless, I mean you said you did it within one class, is it really fairly quick?

I was running the Windows 7 RC1. So after I backed up my stuff, I booted into the RTM disc, deleted all the partitions, made a new one, formatted it, and installed 7. Now, in all fairness, it was a 3 hour class, but the installation itself completed in about 45 minutes. When I say completed, I mean to a fully functioning state. No missing drivers. No more reboots. The rest was just me getting my programs installed and my data back onto the machine.
Actually, the backing up and restoration of my personal files cumulatively took the most amount of time.
In other words, Windows 7 installs faster than any other windows version I've had the pleasure of using.

But it still needs driver hunting and reboots.
It needed only one reboot and the only driver it was missing it wasn't really missing. It mis-detected my soundcard as a slightly different model. With the driver it selected, it could still play audio, but the headphone jack defaulted to SPDIF rather than heaphone out.
Mah new laptop (Thinkpad T60 CoreDuo 2Ghz 2GB Ram) with Windows 7 RC1 on it. Might aswell not shell for Windows till I upgrade the hard drive from 60 GB
(T_T) How can you dislike Halloween? It's such a fun holiday!
It's weird how when I was a kid, the best holidays were present-getting holidays, and Halloween came after that because you only got candy. Now that I'm an adult, Halloween is pretty much the best holiday because presents are no longer an issue. Also, it seems as if there is increased fear for children's safety on Halloween, but increased celebration of Halloween by adults.
I'd be really interested to see some sort of study that quantified how many people were observing Halloween over the years, and how enthusiastically. My guess is you would see the Halloween line rising over the years. If I'm right, it's totally awesome to see the holiday with "evil" origins taking off. We need more such holidays. There's only one Halloween per year, but Jesus gets a whole fistful of holidays. Talk Like a Pirate Day is a good start, but we could use some more.

Well, there was the International Day of Slayer, but that happens very infrequently.

I think it's gauche and over-commercialized. Worst of all, it's been trodden to death, crushed under the spiked boots of repetition. I think holidays should only have a shelf life of 20 years before mandatory retirement. Then new holidays should be invented with new traditions. Otherwise, we fall into this recycle-the-holiday-of-my-youth mentality where it's a pure Groundhog Day routine. Let's as a society shelf Halloween for a while to let it regain its sheen. When it comes back in 2050, it will be through a retro grassroots kind of spontaneous happening, with homemade costumes again. And Halloween candy won't be on the shelves in September. And maybe it will have some better colors instead of purple and orange and black. As it stands, the whole Halloween aesthetic is just so tired.

I think you just aren't creative enough. Despite having a Halloween every year, there's always a way to make it new. Combine that with some traditions for the sake of ritual and nostalgia, like pumpkins, and you've got a winner.

I keep true to my word. ^^ Meet my new laptop.
No anime for me.
I like dressing up as a monster and running around at night.

EDIT: Watership Down is probably one of my top 10 Favorite Books I'll Re-Read Ever 2-4 Years. Same goes with the movie.
