I hope there is an upgrade option when this gets released in 2 days.

The DLC structure for this game outside of "Gods and Kings" and "Brave New World" is obnoxious.
  • Then go and pick up the Humble Bundle sK0pe :)
  • I must have misread the humble bundle site, I thought it was offering just Civ 5 (plus all the Other Civs), Gods and Kings and Brave New World.

I already have the base Civ 5 + Brave New World.

I want Gods and Kings plus all the other map packs and scenarios (e.g. Viking Bluetooth) however I thought you had to buy those separately (and I knew some of these were rolled into the Gold release however that has been removed as the Complete Version will take its spot).

I only bought the base game because I hadn't really done much turn based strategy games other than XCOM, once I realised I enjoyed it, the Steam sales were over.

Outside of the 2 major expansions I would need to get 13 extra DLCs to get the equivalent of the Complete Version.
  • So due to people buying the game now, anyone up for a Civ game after I get out of work today?
  • I'd be willing to later. Not sure how my laptop will do in multiplayer. I've been fine in single player when I switch it to Tactical View.
  • if I have POWER! I might be able to play.

Ahhhh! Dem City utilities. Haven't had a power outage since I left Beacon.
  • I think it mainly has to do with your lack of trees....Those trees try and kill ya.

We have trees. We just put our power lines underground because we aren't morons.

barely any trees compared to Penn's woods :-p
  • The burbs in Michigan did the same thing. Almost all local transmission lines were underground.

As someone who has equally tree to power ratio mine was fine, he just lost on the mother nature lottery.
  • Putting your power lines underground doesn't help when they're adjacent to the root systems of particularly large trees - my office has been without power for two days. Apartment is doing fine, but I'm getting a bit stir-crazy.

A pipe buried in the dirt is better than a utility pole, but that's not still not optimal. You need a complete subterranean tunnel system.

This is why I sadly went into the office today, I needed to get out of the nook.
  • Speaking of underground, there is an electrical fire under the street outside of my office. Power and Internet still working. Elevators work, but refuse to move because the fire alarm system successfully activated.
  • Humble Bundle now includes Pirates!.
  • And the dumb DLC!

Reason for not buying has disappeared.
  • I've played Pirates! out I think. Too many years. Too many governor's daughters. Too many treasure ships.

It's the only Sid Meier I've never played. Related: I fly a skull and crossbones in front of my house, actively play in a pirate themed RPG, and have a beard Blackbeard would nod at.

    I may need to purchase/play.

Oh, just give me Pirates, so I don't have to buy anything.
  • Do you have Brave new World yet?

Yes. Bought it during Steam sale while at CTCon.

  • I'll give you pirates when I get home :-p

Same here. I got the remake on iPad for a buck and tried to play it. The sword combat, controlled by finger swipes, is SUPER ANNOYING.

  • Anyone want to do a Civ V: Brave new world game tonight?
  • I'd be down.
  • I might be able to.
