Like the song goes, it's been the worst day since yesterday. They haven't had any other heartbreaking experiences to compare this to, so it will feel like the world is going to end to them. Yes, eventually they will look back on this and probably laugh at themselves, but for right now it is literally to them.
I'm still not convinced that's not a hoax by 4chan. They did the same thing with Justin Beiber a few years back. That's not to say nobody fell for it but I think a lot of it is probably just random assholes finding images of cut up arms from the internet trying to get others to do it.

So, on Mystik Spiral's Dariawiki page, they describe the group as "trance punk". Of course, the first thing I did was go on Bandcamp to see if someone has created such a genre in the last 14 years since Daria got cancelled. What I found was amazing (NSFW). Unlistenable garbage, but amazing unlistenable garbage. That album art, that title, the bizarre nature of the "music". It's stunning.
