I saw that Star Wars galaxies thing there, and I remember the game being dead. It says "The Complete Online Adventures" I'm thinking maybe they took the MMO and repackaged all the content as a single player game for $5.
I was wrong. It says right there on Steam

Yup, I thought it would be free to play at this point, then I could have maybe tried it, but as it is now, it's just a trap.
So many good things this week that I've been interested in...Borderlands for $10, Bionic Commando pack for $11, Prototype and Star wars Empire at war both look interesting.
So I'm definitely getting Borderland and it's DLC since it comes out to be 20 dollars for all of it (which is what I was willing to pay for just the normal game).
Is it essential to play Half-Life 1 before Half-Life 2?
No, just go to wikipedia and read the plot or go to youtube and watch a sped up walkthrough. No sense in playing it until the Black Mesa Mod for HL2 is out.

Uh, no. First of all, it is extremely silly at this point to rely on Black Mesa coming out in any timely fashion. Second of all, everyone who didn't have HL already should have gotten it when it was ~$2 the other day. Third of all, Half-life is one of the greatest games ever made and, in my opinion, better than HL2. Fourth of all, Natural Selection. Seriously, there is no reason to not to at least own the original Half-life at this point. You're basically getting two of the best FPSes ever made for negligible price.
That said, you'd still be crazy not to get HL2 for $3.39 today if you don't have it. It is true that you don't need to have played HL2 to enjoy it, but there is sooo much sense in playing and owning the original Half-life.
Shit, too much good stuff today. Borderlands--But I'll probably tire of it fast. Prototype--But unless someone says otherwise, I don't need yet another sandbox game. Crysis pack, BC Pack (maybe just Rearmed), and Empire at War I will probably get.
EDIT: Three people for Borderlands? You guys make this difficult.
Hmm.. Saint's Row 2 looks to be what GTA used to be, also the whole campaign has online co-op. Might get Rearmed but that can wait until the 4th.
Saints Row 2 is really good for a laugh, problem is the Steam/PC version has a lot of graphical glitches, and gets choppy and jumpy on some Radeon and Nvidia cards.
It should be free. It was a tech demo back in the day. After HL2 came out, there was a new wave of video cards that had some fancy new feature. They made Lost Cost which was just one level to demonstrate this fancy new graphical feature. It mostly made the water look all awesome. It was funny because computers that played HL2 just fine would lag the crap out when trying to do Lost Coast.

It's just one short area, and it should be free.
I've looked at it occasionally, and it has gone from being free, to costing money, to now supposedly being part of a huge pack.
I haven't played any Half-Lifes. I got HL1 a while ago for a dollar, and now I can get HL2, Episode 1, and Episode 2 for about 3 bucks each. Should I do it y/n?

I'm glad I waited on the sales. Aside from Deus Ex and Thief, there's nothing I really want too badly in the Square+Enix pack. I'm just going to get JC2 today.

It's nicer on the 360 since people can watch you play and get entranced, but on PC you can play mp3 files.
