  • Got the Freedom Force pack.
It's a WIN if you either dig 70's-style comic books or you can recognize the irony in the presentation. Two of my favorite games of all time!

Got the Freedom Force pack. Considered JC2 but I've got Mars Asshole to keep me company.
I bought Mars Asshole, but JC2 is just so much better.

EDIT: Hmmm...I want Sam & Max, but I still haven't beaten the original SCUMMy goodness. I'll wait.

Fuck, I wish I had thought about that.

Oh well. I'll be too busy surfing on fucking planes.

  • So I hear a lot about this Metro 2033 game. What's the deal?
  • Oh c'mon. All the Half-Lifes doubled in price since last night. Forget that.

So I hear a lot about this Metro 2033 game. What's the deal?
I will share an anecdote. One time I was browsing the Gamestop shelves for some of the Katamari games, when this man with a neckbeard walks in and pulls a copy of Metro 2033 out of his bag. He said, "I bought this yesterday, I'd like to return it."

The hot girl behind the counter goes, "Ok, what's wrong with it?"

Neckbeard responds, "Well, if I wanted to pay $60 to run around subways in a post-apocalypse, shooting zombies mutants with a variety of weapons from different eras, I would have bought another copy of Fallout 3." And that's why I've never bought Metro 2033. I've also heard it is WAY linear.

Game by a Ukrainian developer, based on the Russian book of the same name. Post-apocalyptic setting, survivors versus mutants in the underground tunnels that now make up the majority of the world. Has received mixed reviews, with the majority of them saying the game is mediocre at best. I think I'm more inclined to try and find the translated version of the book than play the game.
  • All of those games in the sale today will be much cheaper pretty quick so I'm in no rush to go for these deals (ESPECIALLY with my backlog)

Agree, looked that there were some mildly interesting games, but those were still new and too expensive.

Last day coming up. The time to get any games you really want but haven't been on the one-day sales is almost upon us.

Ahh, just think. There was a time when I said I would wonder if I would ever need more than 1MB/s internet.

This is true. JC2 goes beyond the original title (Island Asshole) and is, quite possibly worthy of the title - For now - ultimate asshole.
  • Mars Asshole isn't working too well. Runs pretty smooth on medium but I blow up one building too many and it slows to a slideshow.

Most non-linear games are much more poorly designed than the majority of linear games, though.

From what I've heard, Metro 2033 is primarily a techdemo for DirectX 11.

Today they have put all the big hits back on sale. I still missed HL2 though :( Today I'm looking at purchasing Civ IV, Trine, WoG, and only 33% off HL2 and HL2 ep1-2

  • Looks like they are ending the sale with the big names
  • Got Men of War and that was it. It's been good everyone. I'm sure all out wallets are much lighter.
  • Yea, I'll repeat again, Civ IV complete is 10 dollars it's a crime not to have it.
  • Picking up civ4, mars asshole, and the Introversion pack. It makes me sad on the inside to spend money, but these ought to be worth it. I would've also picked up the borderlands pack but I feel bad owning two copies of the game, my other one being retail, and I think non-steam compatible.

Exercising tremendous self-control and not getting Tales of Monkey Island, Borderlands, or Men of War (I have Company of Heroes to deal with). Rounding it all out with Introversion and Machinarium.

  • I bought Civ IV and when I choose what I want to install it lists Civ IV and it's expansions twice each. Is there any reason for this or do I just uncheck the duplicates?

One is the Mac version and the other is the Windows one.

Ok, Thanks. I noticed that when I unchecked the boxes the download size didn't decrease so I unchecked them.

Yeah. One of them, when you click on them in your library, will say something to the effect of "This game is not supported on your platform," while the other will install.

  • I downloaded this "Mars Asshole" game. I liked the videos on Steam, so I figured I didn't need $5.
  • I think I managed to winkle out some of the rougher diamonds in the sale:

    Thief: Deadly Shadows
Tales of Monkey Island series 1
    Trials 2 Second Edition
    Ghost Master
Time Gentlemen Please and Ben There, Dan That
    Grand Ages Rome Gold
    Port Royale 2

All for a grand total of exactly $35. Not bad.

Over one hundred games still on sale today, under the specials. Just thought I'd let everyone know.

EDIT: Damn, looks like my client was just slow in updating all the prices.

Anybody else having issues logging into Steam?

edit: Nevermind, I figured it out. Had to rename the ClientRegistry.blob so it could be rebuilt. Solved my login issues after that.
