I got the room down, but can I please call dibs on that 3-Day Pass? Sonic, I"ll take yours, too.

Also, this was a very last-minute situation. I was sure that I'd be absent from this convention, and I just recently found out that I'll be able to attend.

  • In case you didn't see it I will share with it to you all:

  • You guys need to look at whoever is talking, both of you staring at the camera the whole time while having a conversation but never looking at each other makes it feels really weird.
  • Uhhh PAX East 2012?
  • Whaleshark and I have 2 room slots open. We can also carpool from Albany on Thursday. Whisper me if you're interested.
  • Whoa, you guys look like the Creepy Guys in that video. You also speak too fast for your posture. You know how they say people go to radio when they are too ugly for TV? You guys are too creepy for TV. Scott looks like he is coming to murder your family.
  • You guys should make this a banner ad:

Yeah. I'm not sure what it is, but Rym, your eyes are incredibly creepy on camera.

To futher this point, if you ever watched local news... (which I know you don't) you'll see they do the same thing. Whoever is talking looks at the "point" that they are staring at while the other anchor looks at the person talking.

I could also sell you a badge, a friend of mine decided he wanted to go to Canada for undetermined reasons.

He stares, both of them stare. They aren't breaking their line of sight from the camera or near the camera, Scott was OK near the beginning because he was looking around.
  • First you tell us not to stare off into the distance, and to look at the camera. Then we try really hard to look at the camera, and that's not good either. This shit be too hard yo.
  • I think the video would have been less creepy if it ended with the two of you staring directly at the camera as you make out with each other. :P
  • This shit be too hard yo.
You need to look at each other too. You guys are just way too stiff when you're focusing on the camera.

It's also obvious that you're not used to being on camera. Just conduct yourselves naturally. Pretend that the camera is a third person, and you and Rym are having a conversation with that third person. Talk to each other and the camera.

If you want some tips I know a few people that can give you guys some advice, the key is to stare at the boom mic above the camera if it has one so you are "looking" at the camera without staring at it.

I was taught the same thing during presentation classes, this way all the attention goes to the speaker. The frowned eyebrows and Rym's sudden movements were quite distracting. Additionally you could go for clothes/background, which aren't as dull.

Otherwise, the overall video quality was quite good. Maybe cut in additional footage more often? That way the whole thing seems more interesting than just two dudes sitting on a couch.

You are trying too hard. When you are talking look at a particular point, when you stop talking look towards the speaker, rinse and repeat. Curious, when you looked at the video to do all the editing did you notice you looked a bit awkward as well?

Watch some newscasters or other video casts where they have it down better.

  • Tomorrow is Monday, we start a new week. The week after that, is PAX Week. Oh shit son.

It's better than looking at the floor. I just wanted you to make eye contact with the viewer, like you would if you were talking to someone. It's awkward when you talk to someone who won't look at you, right? But when you talk to me, you don't stare at me, you just look.

o.O *twitch* I want to take the commas away from you and give them a safe place to live where they will not be abused.

    Ooops, sorry.

    Hahahahaha.

You did get the shot composition pretty bang on in that video. Good Work. Most of the other stuff, it's stuff you'll get used to, and get better at with practice.
  • Despite the criticism, this is a big improvement over you other videos. It'll just take doing a bunch more to get them down completely.
  • I'm only guessing, since I haven't listened to the first 50 or so episodes. I would bet that if you compared the first episodes to the ones now, we would all hear glaring mistakes and notice things that never happen now. I bet your videos are going to be the same way. To bad we can't all fast forward and avoid the creepy eye stare!

    PAX PAX PAX PAX PAX

    I predict and awesome time.

I will say something positive about the video: don't know how long ago the head-shave occurred, but it is an improvement. Thumbs up.
  • So yeah, we have two spots still. Anyone need a room? Want to stay with awesome (and drunk) people? Please?

Maybe you should promise we won't go all "Oh shit George is here" on them.

I think I'd like to take you up on that offer.

I'm not sure I'm prepared to make that promise.
