  • Do we want to do another meet-up again this year? Or just a random "everybody bumps into everybody else" type thing?
If we do a meetup, let's not do the eating-at-a-restaurant thing. We have exceeded critical seating mass.
We exceeded it last year, we just didn't realize it.
  • We did realize it. That's why we split up. It was coincidental that we ended up going to the same place. :)

Well, I didn't realize it, but I've never been one to not be oblivious to what's going on around me.

How would we organize? Geeknights Twitter?
  • I'm down for hanging out with people, but organizing a lot of people can be a pain. I'm just going to play everything by ear and just keep in contact with most people via text message or Twitter for hanging outs.

It was a pretty much a miracle that Gordon Biersch had space to accommodate for us at PAX Prime last year. However, it was totally awesome.

(Sorry for the crappy cell cam pic.)
  • Weather report still too far away to be trustworthy, but I stared peeking since Thursday has moved into the 5-day forecast. Rain Thursday then nothing but sun and 50 degrees the whole weekend. Would be great it this forecast actually held.
  • I need to print out the schedule and figure out what I want to attend.

So I was looking at local places around the Westin/Convention center. Well I did a tiny bit of research. Am I safe to assume there really aren't any convenience stores/drug stores/grocery stores in a close vicinity of the center?

Edit: There seem to be a decent number of convenience stores. That'll do.

  • What are the convenience stores for?
Just in case I may need something, but then I forget I am an Enforcer and we have a special secret area that supplies us with pretty much anything i might need from a store and for free.

Oh right, I keep forgetting about Enforcerland. Does it have a different name at East than West? Enforcer Island? Enforcer palace?

    Convenience. Duh.
Also booze... Though I do plan on making a substantial purchase at the Harpoon Brewery.

    Fort Awesome.

  • That bodega next to Pax Prime has been my go-to source of energy for years now.

    Same name.

I wonder if they will have a masseuse again. I might actually take advantage of that.

Since I'm arriving very early on Thursday, I might just drop off my bags at the hotel and make a trek to Trader Joe's. It's only 2 miles from the Westin.

That sounds like a lot more fun than the super-secret media room. Filled only with free wi-fi and the sound of 15-20 stressed out individuals furiously cranking out posts.

Edit: I'll be settled in my hotel by 4PM Thursday if anyone wants to meet up for dinner. I'm doing lobby boardgaming at night.

It is. We get coloring books, crayons, and markers. I have images of what people did to ad-lib the Star Wars coloring books. It was high quality lols.

Ooh, that's a possibility. I was planning on doing the same thing.

Oh I have to upload some "artwork" my wife created out of a Star Wars coloring book when we were back in college... Let's just say that at one point she mistook an ash plume and cloud from an exploding volcano to be a tree trunk and foliage. Darth Vader took a walk in the park that day.
  • Check out the Conventionalist app if you are on a android phone. I'm not sure if it is available on the iPhone. It has a PAX East guide that is expertly organized. Down to a event list that will automatically populate your calendar from you selections.

It is also for the iPhone.
  • So, looks like I'm taking Bolt Bus there on Thursday evening, and leaving Tuesday morning. Anyone up to getting a late dinner on Thursday night? (I get in at 10:45pm)

I do believe I'll be on the same bus, so I'm game.
  • I get in way earlier, but I'd be down for some dining.

I'll probably eat before the plane, but if there's beer involved I (and possibly Pete and Wyatt) may be interested in an evening stroll.
  • I''m meeting an old college friend on Thursday night hopefully..

Got this funky advertising for PAX party in my email: http://www.icontact-archive.com/OBzL67m2pqplU4CQzysiH90fJLMh1Emo?w=1

It's for Bethesda's FPS, Brink. You won't find me there though. As a general rule my time is best spent within the walls of PAX.

Ooh, is it the 6:30pm one?

Also, I'd definitely be down for food+beer when I get to Boston. Is there a pub with good food nearby?

It's for Splash Damage's FPS, Brink.
Bethesda are only publishing. Also, the famous BLUR studios in LA did quite a lot in the game, in terms of video and Models.

I just bought a tub of the oatmeal chocolate chip crack cookies to take with me, just in case a Trader Joe's wasn't nearby. :D

    Dan Clark?
  • Dan Clark?
No, Cheryl Beohler, I don't know if you ever really interacted with her, she was one of my good science friends. Kinda a Pinkie Pie character :-p
