Goddammit people, google "pasties" and look at her hand! I gave you guys a ton of hints~!
Michigan-tan?
Correct-a-mundo! The Yoopers, (Including my grandparents) came in droves from Norway and Sweden, and there is also a huge Finnish-American population up there. In the Lower Peninsula, there is a thriving Greek community. The car industry is facing hard times, but walking around the capital, one can see remnants of the roaring twenties, beautiful deco buildings fallen to ruin. Michiganders love hockey, and they share a certain amount culturally with the area of rural Great Lakes Canada. (They say "eh" too!)
Grr why haven't I been following this thread. I know all of this and I'm in marquette right now. Oh and I love the -tan by the way. So true.
I have no artistic skills, but I can tell you for certain that Texas is a chunky, sun-beaten middle aged half-white, half-latino guy wearing embroidered cowboy boots, Wranglers, and a sweat-stained pearl button western-cut shirt with collar tips... and a filthy baseball cap that says REAL MEN LOVE JESUS on it.
Thanks to this thread, I went on a day long research binge on child serial killers. Thank you for making my mind slightly more fucked up than it already is. ^_^
New York-tan would probably be much the same as the aforementioned Illinois-tan, but the urban side would be thin, dapper, and very, very wealthy, while the rural side would be barely out of poverty with a sign saying "Upstate exists, goddammit.!"
I find easteners and westerners trying to draw in each other's styles and with each other's characters interesting. Nemurism does a lot of American cartoon characters and it's pretty cool to see.
Oh this is interesting I would love to try my hand. I've actually been working on a reimagining of Southern Cross that takes place in the deep south, with trashy (trashy-hot) versions of Dana Sterling and others.

And less feminine ones. Unless that's supposed to be a girl. In which case just better.
