OK, so the three bottles I originally brought were Glenlivet, Dalwhinnie and Laphroag.
I wanted to get a range of flavours and DEFINATELY wanted to try an Islay malt.
I found the Glenlivet too mellow. It was NICE by itself, but when you line up all three for a tasting I felt it lacked punch. The Dalwhinnie had a much grainier taste, unique. VERY nice. Very relaxing. Then the Laphroag had that smokey, peaty taste. it was SO nice. I think the Dalwhinnie was my favourite, but something about that smokey taste..
Scotch, wine, coffee, tea... A lot of fun to get to know the different tastes.
I'm currently sampling Japanese green tea - different varieties of the popped rice/matcha blend. I have tried 3 so far (heh, three seems to be my magic sampling number) and LOVE them.
Secret, and possibly shameful, but I could care less (since almost nothing is impossible) -
I read a shitload of Romance manga. Not even always good stuff, I read some pretty shithouse stuff too. I don't even know why I like it, because I know half of it is fuckin' terrible beyond belief, but I just like it. Not to say that's the only terrible manga I read, I read a shitload of manga(reading fast helps - I got through all of Black Jack in less than a day) let's be honest with each other here, most of the manga I read is absolute fucking tripe. But I do read quite a bit of it.
Anyway, here's the active list(there was a bunch before I started using AMR to keep track of my manga, but I don't really have a list of those): Sankarea, Rec, Mysterious Girlfriend X, Mx0, Kaichou wa maid-sama!, China Girl, Ane Doki, ToraDora!, To-LOVE-ru, Suzuka, Love Hina.
That's just the predominantly romance stuff, there's also a some other combinations, but they're not primarily romance, so I didn't include them.
I'll usually go on a big hunt for more every couple of weeks, and for christ's sake can someone recommend me some more GOOD romance manga, because as much as the terrible stuff amuses me, I can find that quite on my own because of Sturgeon's law. I used to try the /a/ recommended lists, but I've read a lot of those, or half the list will not be to my taste. And they don't come out that often, nor do they go over older stuff.
Teenage romance? Or Adult Romance? I've heard of a few of the titles you mentioned, but never read.
I like a decent amount of teen angst romance/drama/comedies. Hot Gimmick, Kare Kano, Hana Kimi, W Juliet, Boys Over Flowers, and Peach Girl are just a few that I've enjoyed from the top of my head.

Literally anything, but a dash of comedy helps, though it isn't necessary. These are mostly of the teen spectrum, but they're the most numerous, and I go into every single one completely blind, so I end up with a lot of them at that end of the scale, however, it doesn't bother me, I don't seek out one over the other.

Added all of those to my list now. You'd probably like Suzuka and Mysterious Girlfriend X, and very maybe Kaichou wa maid-sama, but I'm less sure about that one.
I might start a thread later reviewing the horrible(and sometimes oddly fantastic) manga that I read, as well as the good ones. But Battlefield 3 first.
Also, All Mangas Reader for Chrome - It's fucking excellent if you read a lot of manga, I highly recommend it.
Man, Love Hina was the first anime I watched KNOWING it was anime. It's bad, but it'll always have a special place in my heart.
The manga was suprisingly not-terrible. I really rather liked it.

Yeah. It was one of the first series that I read from the front cover of Volume 1 all the way to the back cover of the last volume. I wouldn't rank it particularly high on the list, but there's some genuine feelings and moments in there.
(It's also, if not strictly auto-biographical, at least somewhat similar to Akimatsu's life; he was a lonely nerd who managed to score a super-hot chick later in life.)

It will always have a special place in my heart, but mostly because it was basically my introduction to porn. Being 13ish at the time, I read it for the "plot". Anyways, I honestly think that ecchi shonen like that were a significant help in my adolescent transformation from "goody-two-shoes Catholic prick" to "laid-back punk kid with a social life". Thus, Love Hina changed my life for the better and made me the man I am today.
I think Love Hina isn't the questionable one, it's To-LOVE-Ru
But I guess relating a real shame of mine, is that if I hear enough about an anime, I'll automatically hate it before even or without even reading/watching it. Like Love Hina, and especially Baka to Test, just reading the descriptions of it on wikipedia made me go "I will never watch this stupid anime." Maybe it's because I find anime a bit more easy to predict, but there are still many times where I can really get surprised. I'm still sort of a sucker for the harem genre, but I'm picky as hell with it, because so many of those series can easily swerve into "This series is following this trope, and it's sucky."

Hmm, most of these are shonen romances. I'll have to think on what I would recommend for romance manga. It's not really my genre. I do love me some Hanakimi, though.
Sorry. I think about trying some to see if my palette has change. Perhaps when we hang out I will have to give it a try. I have been drinking more hard cider and liking it a lot more with my meals. Yes, I know it's not beer, but it's the gateway to beer, imo.

Lagavulin tastes like bacon.
FYI Laphroaig is about $45 US
It BETTER taste like bacon for that price! In fact, do you KNOW how much bacon I can buy for that? Probably the whole damn pig
Might have to visit a bar and just get a double. $90...
I can get that for $50 US here.
OK, so maybe you should try it at a bar first.

It just sucks. I see the enjoyment that people get out of brewing beer and trying all the different favors but it TASTES SO CRAPPY.
Cocktails and wine for me!
