  • We need to go deeper.

I would like to apologize to the internet for making that joke. It was a bad idea and I should never have gone through with it. I am sorry.
  • Is it just me or is this most recent season a bit weak?
I think it's just the novelty wearing off. The animation and songs are head and shoulders above last season, and I haven't really noticed a decline in writing quality.
I'm not feeling that at all. I still watch the new episodes as soon as I'm able, and look forward to it more than any other show I'm watching.

Of course, I made it past the novelty stage long ago with the ponies. ;^)

Is it just me or is this most recent season a bit weak?
I've seen several threads at various locations with this opinion in the last week or so, so I guess this is a fairly common sentiment. It's a little surprising to me because I was feeling a bit blah several episodes back but I've really enjoyed the start of the second half of the season. I think the animation, directing, and production have just gotten better and better since the beginning of the series, with pretty much no caveats. On the writing side I think the episodes have been at least as good as S1. However, I do agree with the people less enamored of this season that I wish they would have a few more episodes with all or most of the main 6, because the show has been more about the individual characters and their flaws than their friendships. I also wish they would do some mild progression elements like the GGG from S1 or otherwise get going on a bit of an overarching story. They also have had a lot of slightly flawed subtexts this season compared to S1 (which instead had a few *really* flawed subtexts) and we haven't seen a ton of positive character development.

  • I think this season has gotten weaker in character development for the main six. However, it is instead rich in worldbuilding and expanding facts about the pony universe. Now we have new insight into the history of Ponyville and Equestria with an introduction to new characters, pony biology and background pony development. Those are all great things about season 2.

I personally hate the fact that it's more emphasis on the CMC and that certain ponies were ignored. Where's a Fluttershy episode?! It took 18 episodes for a Pinkie episode! Why aren't the songs as great and as many?!

  • Next episode's a Fluttershy episode. So... yeah!
  • This season just has less fantasy adventure than the last one.

    Oh my.

This is really lazily done, but also two of my favorite things at once. I don't know what the proper reaction is.

    I'm not really sure either...
  • Coworker saw my work day countdown poster of Pinkie Pie on my cubicle. Someone else asked about it, and I was like "Don't hate on Pinkie Pie!".

My coworker goes, "Well if it's any consolation, my daughter loves Rainbow Dash."

We then talk about MLP:FiM. He's a Pinkie Pie fan as well. This coworker will also be working with me at the new job.

He doesn't know how popular MLP:FiM is to our world, but I gave him a hint.

"Really lazily"? Are you kidding? That looked like it took a lot of planning and work. And I think it's awesome.

I disagree completely, this season has gotten much more if not equal character building simply by the fact they turned on the micro lens on each character and to the ties and relationships that are the most important to them. Good examples are Sisterhooves Social, (which struck a chord particularly well with a few friends with siblings), Baby Cakes, Sweet and Elite, Read It and Weep. All these focus on aspects of a character's psyche they may had only touched on or had no time to explore in Season 1.

I also dont understand you assertion that the songs arent as "great" or "as many". Most of the songs this season are full musical numbers rather than of the top melodies like Pinkie's evil Enchantress in season one, or the cupcake song. The last episode had a great song already, Smile, and we had previous entries like Becoming Popular, Flim and Flam's song which must had been a huge undertaking to choreograph, and not to mention the Finding a Pet song. I personally prefer musical numbers with a strong score and choreography than off the top melodies that was more prevalent in Season 1

Also, it took about 15 episodes in Season 1 for a full on pinkie episode, Feeling Pinkie Keen, i doubt this season is trying to marginalize any character really, just giving each the screentime they deserve as the episodes roll by.

So my actress for Applejack, Kira Buckland, is trying to start a one day MLP convention here in SoCal called Equestria LA. It needs funding, so she's started a Kickstarter for it!

This was an idea we kicked around about a month ago, so it's nice to see it moving along. I'll be donating $100 to it and I'll likely do a panel as well.

  • The last couple of episodes have been kind of meh. The reading one was okay, with a couple of good gags in it, and hearts-and-hooves was kind of cute with the CMC reactions being funny, but the Pinkie-sode was totally weak. It bumped Rarity into best-pony for me, with Pinkie in a close second.

  • Clearly Sweden/Norway/Denmark/Finland is a cool place if this is one of their newspaper cartoons.

    It's Denmark's #1 newspaper.

This may have been already posted back during the beginning of season 2. I can't recall.

Suprisingly, there isn't one on FimFiction.net. There is one about Q becoming Discord, though.

  • I am not even going to click that. Why would somebody write such a thing? WHY?
  • It's not porn, just sayin.

It's the mane 6 watching "Black Bridle" in a theater, so it's really more like MST3K. The difference is that they aren't making fun of the movie, just commenting on it.

Edit: and then it gets kinda funny once they leave the theater. It's short, so just read it.
