Naa... Looks like that one. Figures the Iranians would post yet another Photoshop. They seem to love doing that.

    Wow.

Just take the audio of Rush saying "Thank god for President Obama" and cut that commercial..

On top of that, watch the video at the bottom of the link, Rush says that it was President Obama's plan that was successful while everyone else wanted to bomb the hell out of it.

  • lol, good old predictable Rush

    1. attributes success to the continuance of the Bush policies
    2. congratulates Obama for not "scrubing the mission" (a reference to the Limbaugh theory that Clinton is to blame for 9/11)
    3. Sarcastically implies Obama singlehandedly came up with the plan since he is so highly qualified (since everyone knows that he is unqualified for the job of prez according to Limbaugh)
    4. Speculates that it was information obtained under torture at Gitmo that led to the assassination
    5. Repeatedly says "Obama" instead of "Osama" (oops, tee hee)
    6. Reminds listeners that Bin Laden really hasn't mattered ever since Bush gave up on trying to find him
  • Rush saying "Thank god for President Obama"
"How can I help seeing what is in front of my eyes? Two and two are four."
"Sometimes, Winston. Sometimes they are five. Sometimes they are three. Sometimes they are all of them at once. You must try harder. It is not easy to become sane."

I didn't hear sarcasm....but I'm in a crowded room and can't hear it that well.

    Maybe it was sarcastic.

Still not sure. I guess I should refrain from commenting till I am in a position to watch the whole clip.

Regardless, taking those clips out of context will be amusing :-p /backpetal backpetal backpetal.

  • Rush Limbaugh, not unlike Jabba the Hutt, is immune to puny Jedi Mind Tricks like pointing out hypocrisy. His fans are too well versed in double think:

    - America loves freedom --> Gitmo is good
    - Culture of life --> kill them all and let god sort them out
    - Debt doesn't matter --> debt matters
    - socialism is bad --> medicare is good

That's cuz it's not in this thread.
  • Man, I wonder how awkward Pakistan feels right now.

Their reaction has been pretty funny, a mix of "Hey you totally should have told us, you should trust us more, I mean come on it is not like we would leak it or anything" and "Good Job!, but the jobs not done....."
  • Apparently the SEALS recovered a ton of computer information from the compound as well, so much information that they are creating a special task force to go through it all.
    Bin Laden files found.

Yea, I was thinking about this. This is probably about 100% more important then getting Bin Laden. I would think even Rubin would agree that this should be pretty big. Too bad you can't go through those files like to do on TV, within like a few hours having all the info you need :-p

Apparently Sad Keanu got to be in the room when the news reached the white house. The bigger question is who is that girl in the top right corner? She's way to young to be on the chief staff of whatevers. She must be some intern.
  • Although a good thing one point that has been raised amongst my friends as a point of debate. Was it right for America to go into another country with military forces, assassinate someone then leave. With out telling them that they were about to do as such. Regardless of Pakistan's problems was it the right thing? or are we in the situation were some good people had to do some bad things.

Sure, when you consider that the usual plan is to go into another country with military force, kill tens of thousands of people and stay forever.
  • You can't "assassinate" an enemy combatant.
  • You can't "assassinate" an enemy combatant.
What about a nation where a head of state is also a commander of the armed forces, with whom were are at war?

He/she is a legitimate military target then, IMHO, and shouldn't be handled any differently than J-random foot soldier on the battlefield (other than the obviously increased difficulty in actually taking out such a high-ranking military official).

That would depend heavily on the situation. For example, Obama is the Commander of your Armed forces, but does not qualify as a Combatant. Nor does Gadaffi, or the Queen. But were, Say, Queen Liz to grab a uniform and head onto the battlefield, it is possible under certain sitations for her to be considered a combatant, and therefore, her killing to not be considered assassination depending. However, if you threw Obama over to the middle east, and sent him on a morale tour, that would still be an assassination, despite being on the battlefield, as he would not be considered a combatant, as he has no direct role in hostilities.

Essentially, here's your rule of thumb - If they're taking a direct part in the hostilities, you're good to go, as long as you are following the rules of war. If they are not - By role, or by other means such as illness, wounds, or being detained or disabled - then they are considered non-combatants, and harming them is strictly forbidden unless under very specific circumstances.

IIRC, anyway - Not a lawyer, all that business.

P.s This is either the second or the third.

By that measure Osama was not a combatant. He was a combatant in the past in Afghanistan, but that was on our side against the Russians! Since then he has carried a gun, but probably didn't use it until just a few days ago, and he definitely didn't use it to any great effect. He paid for and provided resources to combatants, but can anyone cite an example where he personally engaged in an act of terrorist combat? At most he has as much to do with 9/11 as Obama had to do with killing Osama.
