Cripes, there's been eighty posts since I last looked at this thread. Uhh, I tend to do reasonably well as distraction/capper Scout and defensive Heavy, but Pyro and Engineer aren't out of the question either.
I don't have much of an opinion on items, I'm in support of Valve Maps Only (save for 2fort), and I'd like to point out that Nate didn't consult me before volunteering me for a Team Captain position. I'd rather avoid it if at all possible, I'm a shocktrooper, not a leader.
Something I'd like to bring up is the possibility of class-locking, where you start as your chosen class and can't switch during rounds, only between rounds and during setup periods. Was this implicit to the whole tournament scrim thing, or was this something that needed to be brought up?
I've not played enough to know what I like best, or what I'm good at. I did okay with the sniper, but it felt weird. Is it right that it feels like there is massive lag between clicking and the gun firing? That really annoys me.
Also mist of the weapons you guys have mentioned so far don't mean anything to me. I guess I need to play on some more servers to get the full range of characters.
As far as the weapons, I say we stick to basics. Even though I don't have a problem with the extra weapons myself, I'd rather just minimize the QQ and be on with it.
I wont mince words, im very good at medic. Not GREAT but ive made MVP a couple of times as medic. I can play pyro in a pinch. Any team needing a medic to balance Ro or want more support, im your guy.
At least one person here is going to have some horrific flashback to being last-picked in gym class. Can we all meet up for dodgeball after the scrim?
I was oddly happy to not be picked for phys ed, because then I could just sit to the side and read my goddamn book, and let all the rough types go thrash on each other for an hour. In high school, it stopped happening - Basketball, pick the tall guy. Rugby, pick the big guy who looks like he can run real fast. Soccer, pick the big, agile looking guy for defense. I'm utterly shit at all of them, of course, but that doesn't stop anyone - though it was only just before I left that they bought in the one sport I'm actually decent at, baseball, and we ended up getting our season win taken away, because instead of the teacher, Steve and I were actually coaching the team, since we were both Metro leauge players at the time, and the teacher had no fucking clue what was going on and just left us to it.
I play best as a Pyro a Scout, but can handle Heavy, Engineer and Medic as well to a reasonable degree of skill. Just don't ask me to snipe or play Demoman.

Err, what were we talking about again?
I want to read, but they always make you play, even if it makes the teams unbalanced. In 9th Grade, the coach gave up requiring anything, and just opened up the door to the supply closet and said "do whatever the hell you want." I ended up in a soccer circle with a group of jittery girls. Not the best way to kill 45 minutes, but not terrible.
One reason not to go with randomised teams is you want each team to have a range of players specialising in different classes. You don't want to end up with a full team of sniper players.
P_TOG is the only player I really wouldn't want to be against, of those I've played against on the server.
Are we picking a time for Today or Tomorrow? I'd wanna know as soon as possible. :X
It's not going to be this weekend, or likely next. I'm working and going out with some friends tomorrow, and working next weekend. Probably two weeks from today.

So, plenty of time to hammer down the rules and practice, then!

We might want to get these teams picked fast, then, so we have a week to work together as teams - a completely fresh team is hardly better than no team at all, considering average player level here.

Yup. Think its best to just post a set of days and hours where people will be playing and practicing leading up to the match? THis way i can jump in any time to practice as long as its during those set hours or days

Good as offensive scout or soldier.
Terrible spy. Just terrible.

If not, I can be decent pyro, heavy, medic, spy, engi. Tolerable sniper, scout, soldier. Not much of demoman if you don't count melee.
