Which sounds exactly like being tackled by a giant angry Bulgarian, and then having the shit kicked out of him by about 20 old white dudes.
Turns out it wasn't even a real pistol - I was a Gas Pistol, legally obtainable in Bulgaria as a "Self Defense Device". It's essentially a pistol-shaped thing that fires bursts of pepper spray using a small amount of gunpowder - at that range, he'd have been lucky to even wound the guy, they're not even as dangerous as blanks. It'd fuckin' sting, but chances of death are extremely low. He did have two knives, though, not that it helped.

Boy Scouts Consider Lifting Ban on Gay Leaders So now young Boy Scouts might be able to like other boys and not get kicked out, provided that the leadership doesn't throw too much of a fit next week and said Scout's troop is in an urban, high-income, liberal area. So that's a step forward.

I personally think that if someone's willing to maintain the physical standards and risk their life it's their right.
Exactly. If you can schlep 40+lbs of gear while in a full body camo suit (possibly including chemical warfare protection gear), body armor, and carrying an M-16 over the course of multiple days worth of 100 mile marches and still be able to hit a target a couple of hundred yards away while also being shot at, then yeah, you shouldn't be kept from doing so if you choose to.
