  • I agree completely. I mean here in Michigan they're a felony to have yet its relatively easy to get a concealed carry pistol permit.
  • Y'know, until recently I thought a concealed carry permit was an additional permit you get on top of a 'normal/open' carry permit. Something that allowed you to carry a gun secretly, rather then the default openly.

It's sort of like that. To the best of my knowledge, you get it on top of your gun license. Some states licence open carry, some states allow it without a permit, some states ban it. There are some very informative wikipedia articles on both concealed and open carry.
  • I think most states tend to legally allow open carry, but its kind of frowned upon and you might still get questioned by police and other shit so its not exactly ideal.

My state licenses neither gun ownership or open carry. If you have a gun you can carry it in the open. People will look at you like you're about to go on a shooting rampage, but you can do it.
  • Always always always check your local gun laws and ordinances. If you can carry openly, great. You'll probably get to meet your local police force, but if you let the first officer know what you're doing, where you're going, and how long you expect to be out, they usually won't respond after the third person calls in about you. Hell if the first officer takes a description down they might not respond to the second call.

It really depends on the state and what type of firearm. Like here in Georgia rifles and shotguns are open carry but handguns you need a permit for open carry.

Edit: Also it sometimes depends on your city. Most cities follow state regulations but they are allowed to set their own laws, if the state allows them. There was even one city in Georgia that required every resident in the city to own a gun. I think it was some kind of experiment to see if it would decrease crime but I am unsure really. Seems more like it was for the safety and general welfare of the city, according to them. Kennesaw, Georgia was the city.
