1. Saw Surf's Up thanks to a free movie you can download after buying a flash drive. It was much better than I had expected. I really like how it's taught and I was having a weird moment when I watched it where I could catch every famous person they got to voice a character. It's a bit typical and there's one annoying character, but I thought it was a pretty good animated film.
2. Paul was a really, really fun movie. Not a great movie, but it's done by the man who did Superbad and Adventureland, not Edgar Wright. Pegg and Frost are fun like usual. I think there are a bit too many running gags, but it's pretty funny movie overall.
3. Limitless is AWESOME. I thought Rango would easily be my favorite movie this year, but Limitless has beat it. It keeps you guessing, it has such a tight script and dialogue, it has a really great visual style and original story, and it's just brilliant. Props to Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro. If you loved Fight Club, you'll love Limitless.
Really? From the trailer I got that the movie was:
man is loser --> man gets pill --> man becomes winner --> man gets into situation where losing pill would be disastrous --> man loses pill --> disaster --> man discovers that the power to solve his problems was inside him all along --> man averts disaster --> denouement
Is it more than just that? is it that but well acted and fun to watch?
man is loser --> man gets pill --> man becomes winner --> man gets into situation where losing pill would be disastrous --> man loses pill --> disaster --> man discovers that the power to solve his problems was inside him all along --> man averts disaster --> denouement
That's what I got from the trailer and will probably only watch the movie when it's available on Netflix Streaming where my bf forces me to watch. The main character guy is alright, but not enough to where I actually remember his name and I actually have a decent knowledge of actors' names.
Harry Potter 7 part 2 needs to hurry up and come out.
Bradley Cooper is the star of Limitless, and I think this movie really proves his talent. He's mostly charismatic, but I fully believe he can play multiple roles being funny or dramatic. The only other big actor is Robert De Niro, and he's only on for a few scenes, but he really sells them. I was never once bored during this movie, because I was always wondering what it was about.

The first three parts are right, but this Pill is SERIOUS STUFF. It actually changes the cinematography and visual style of the film when it's taking affect, and without giving to much away, but part of the plot about the movie involves the history of the Pill itself. So the way the movie approaches the main character and the device that causes it all, is a cool, new way of looking at it.
Watching Johnny Mnemonic, man the acting is corny. I love the story and the premise but I wish anyone in this movie could deliver a line, even just one.

I have only seen the trailer, but I was weary of it when I heard the stereotypical "You know how they say you only use %10 of your brain?" When things say that it always pisses me off because they are just flatout wrong. From what I understand, we online use a few percent AT ONCE. If I'm sitting here watching tv or reading a book I don't need to use all these other parts of my brain that are for completely unrelated tasks. Its not the same as only using 5% or 10% of our processing power.
Conscious thought only uses a fragment of your brain's processing power. The rest runs... you know... your heart. And liver. And lungs. And subconscious. And memory storage. And reflex. And so on.

Exactly. Even if there are times when we really are only using 10% of our brains, that doesn't mean that we only know what that 10% does and that the rest is for our psychic powers and all that BS.

It's cyberpunk movie with Keanu Reeves in it and Ice-T before Ice-T became a decent actor. What did you expect?

I recalled it to be bad, but not that bad. Nostalgia made me think, "Maybe it held up better than you think it could have".
It does make me smile when I think back to all the futurists and what they thought today would be like. How much they thought fully immersive graphical systems would dominate the landscape. Like how hacking a system would really become abstracted enough to where you are manipulating a weird graphical object. So much more romantic an idea of how the cyber world, as it were, would develop.

We still live in the time period that is "before Ice-T became a decent actor".

Ugh, that movie. It pains me to think of razor-nailed Molly with crazy foofy hair! In my head she looked a lot more like Trinity from The Matrix.
I just watched 8mm yesterday. It was pretty good, though I am a sucker for underground crime and Nicolas Cage. A good movie with just the right amount of cage rage.
The King's Speech deserved Best Picture. I was wrong for criticizing The Social Network, but it definitely wasn't Best Picture-worthy. It was really, really awesome, however. Toy Story 3 was very good and, at moments, poignant. However, it felt a bit short and lacking in development at points.

It did feel a bit more simple than the other two movies for some reason, but I still really liked it. It still felt like a worthy Toy Story movie. I'm glad they didn't pull a Shrek.
If this sounds appealing to you, you will like Sucker Punch. I know I did.
The plot sucked a fat dick, but I still liked the movie a lot. Zack Snyder is awesome at stylistic and action elements; I wish he could learn to distill a good movie solely out of those. Right now he's making bathtub gin, and he needs to get up to a Hendricks. All in all though, steam-powered clockwork Germans fighting flying mecha-bunnies piloted by hot ladies? I'm all over that.
