  • I'm pretty sure that programming the demo was easy. Not much development time was used on it.
They had them pretty much already made since the games are already out for the virtual console.
  • Does this mean we may get Mother 3 on the VC?

Rumor mill time: Character Screen. This is definitely fake, and here is why...
    1. Falco and Roy aren't on here. Those two characters are so popular that it would be idiotic to take them out (even if they created a new character to replace them.
    2. The "new" Fire Emblem characters feature their concept art as the picture.
(I would love it if Bowser Jr., Ridley, and Midna as playable characters, though.)

No, because Nintendo of America sucks. Man, in Japan's Masterpieces they get Fire Emblem and Mother 2. I hate that!

  • I would have to disagree with your first point, though that in no way adds to the validity of the screenshot.
    1. Marth is much more popular than Roy is. Marth was the main character of the original Fire Emblem game whereas Roy was included mainly to promote the FE game he was in, which came out shortly after Melee did. (This is corroborated by Wikipedia and one of my friends who knows a lot more about this than I do.
    2. I also recall a statement made by Sakurai that "clone" characters would not be appearing in Brawl. That also refutes Roy being in, and could mean the demise of Falco, or at least his moveset changing.

I'm a big fan of removing the clone characters. Many of the characters in the first two Smash Bros. games were just copies of each other, or very close to being so. There is not a huge difference between Mario and Dr. Mario, Pikachu and Pichu, Ganondorf and Capt. Falcon, Fox and Falco, etc.

I think what NIntendo really should do is find all those characters that have very similar move sets, and make them all effectively one character, but then let you change the model without changing the moves or the game. For example Peach and Daisy should be one character, with exactly the same moves and exactly the same gameplay, but you should be able to choose which model you want.

I know they won't do this, but it's what I would do.

Ganondorf and Captain Falcon really aren't that similar. Ganondorf is much heavier than Captain Falcon and packs much more of a punch. I will give you the fact that their moves are similar, but the tactics of playing them are very different.

Oh, and when did Sakurai mention the clone characters? I must have missed that.

That's what I'm saying, the moves are basically the same. They difference between the characters program-wise are a few variables, like speed and weight, and the game model.
  • Now if they would just give Ganondorf his sword (the one in his victory screen), that would make him a heavy sword wielder and would make him not be a clone character and would be totally awesome.

    That's not necessarily true.

Remember the costume change of Wario? You can change his model completely to be oldschool instead of Wario-Ware based. I'm sure they can apply the same thing (or something similar) to the other characters.

Yeah, because the game doesn't have enough sword wielders in it already.

There's a big difference between changing the skin and changing the entire model.

In the case of Peach and Daisy, it would be practically the same thing.

Pictures. I am appeased now, (character wise) and the Subspace Emissary looks AMAZING! Oh, and to anyone who says the graphics on the Wii suck, SUCK IT! These graphics look amazing!

Wow, I don't know how, and I don't care how these were obtained, but I love it. I was getting worried about a certain character when they didn't appear in the intro video.
  • Which character was this?

I'm just wondering if you can use Mewtwo. He wasn't a clone character and he was a fan favourite. I know Roy is out, though, and my best friend will die if Pichu isn't in it.
Oh, and HUZZAH! Ganondorf returns and his Final Smash is Ganon!

  • Well, the game is now out in Japan so I don't think Nintendo will be able to push our release back anymore. I'm glad that they will continue to update the site, as it has become part of my daily internet routine.
  • Luigi's final smash is ZA WARUDO!
Ok, I am considering on getting this game. They were fighting in an Animal Cross town. >.> That's pretty tempting.
  • They posted something today saying all the characters so far are starting characters, further proving my point that there will be around 50 characters. Think about it:

    Original - 8 start, 4 unlocked = 12 characters
    Melee - 14 start, 11 unlocked = 25 characters
    Brawl - 25 start, ? unlocked = 50? characters

By the way, I don't actually think this will happen; I just thought it was funnily following my bogus "predictions".

There are going to be under 40 characters and currently there are 35-ish (including unlockable characters). Plus, some of the characters from Melee are not returning.

Oh, thanks for the info; I didn't realize this was known yet, but then again, Japanese version did come out today.
  • No clones, huh?
  • Dam, why do I have a 360 when this game exists? So tempted to pick up a Wii when I get back from my travels and have the money to. God dam you Nintendo, I thought I was rid of you for good!
