Epica's newest album, The Classical Conspiracy, is right the fuck up my alley. Only a sampling - check out other songs in the related videos. If you decide to torrent this, just note that the most well-seeded torrent is a bootleg recording with really terrible quality. There is a good one though.
Blood Venus rules, you should all download it right away. I've been listening to Mount Eerie's new album Wind's Poem a little bit lately. I posted about him a few pages back. On this new album, he has totally taken the plunge into metal. Some of the tracks on here are down right brutal, balanced out by his tried and true folk and ambient pieces.
I'm shocked by the lack of Ayreon in the progressive metal discussion. People should really check it out, all the albums are fantastic, especially 'Into The Electric Castle', 'The Final Experiment', and '01011001'
I'm almost finished Heaven & Hell's first album (not as Black Sabbath), The Devil You Know and I would have to say that it is almost on par with Black Sabbath's Heaven & Hell album. It's definitely worth a listen. Maybe this can be some blog fodder in the future...
