  • I always thought that particular reference came from Don Quixote.
It does, but giants are still metal as all get-out.
I thought they were supposed to be made of flesh. :P
Depends on what kind of Giant.

    YES.
    Fuck yes, hotlinking.

    Problem?
  • Problem?
No problem. Who said there was a problem?

Anyway, a few days ago I thought I didn't like death metal, but then I listened to Nile. Holy goddamn shit this band is awesome. Those Whom the Gods Detest makes me want to fly to Egypt and punch a sphinx in the FACE. Where can I get more music like this?

I'd try Mediafire, unless you want some suggestions, in which case I can provide. Nile was how I got into death metal too.

Also, "makes me want to fly to Egypt and punch a sphinx in the FACE" is the best metal reaction I've ever read.

OK... Why is that? Have you lost your taste for Nile or are you getting at something else entirely?

    Try these:

    -Cryptopsy (Try "Open Face Surgery")
    -Necrophagist (listen to "Stabwound")
    -Death
    -Atheist
    -Brain Drill

See if any of those work, we can go from there. Also, listen to a few songs by each, because styles can shift over time.

Tell me, How do you think the Sphinx lost it's nose?

Napoleon's soldiers were using it for cannon target practice?
  • Napoleon's soldiers were using it for cannon target practice?
You owe me a new desk, because I just headdesk'ed mine into splinters.
  • Where can I get more music like this?
You can't. Nile is the heaviest, most intense death metal band on the planet. Metal is over.

If you want bands of similar intensity, check out Immolation, Suffocation, Behemoth, and Belphegor.

Also - This Never happened. There are records that exist of the sphinx without it's nose hundreds of years before Napoleon was born. They have texts that tell us that it was it was an act of iconoclastic vandalism from the 1300s.
  • If you liked Those Whom the Gods Detest, you should get your hands on Annihilation of the Wicked. Those are pretty much Nile's two strongest albums ever. Personally, I love the entire catalog, though their first album is probably their weakest. Black Seeds of Vengeance is really where they started to come into their own.

On a related note, I've heard that Immolation's latest album is quite fantastic. They played a song from it when I saw them live, and I do remember it being quite good. Has anyone heard anything from it?

    Behemoth
THIS. THIS, THIS, A MILLION TIMES THIS.

Also, Abigail Williams. And you'd probably like Satyricon.

Maybe heaviest for people who are bound to such impertinent musical fodder as structure and, god-forbid, rhythm.

    Oh you.

  • Yeah, that was pretty much awesome. Good find.
  • Whaaaaat. Damn.
  • OH MY GOD
    METALGRASS
  • Can I second Abigail Williams? Fucking quality black metal.
  • Quality black metal:
  • I can't enough fucking Skitliv.

  • I can't enough fucking Skitliv.
You accidentally the whole unspeakable evil?
  • You accidentally the whole unspeakable evil?
The verb was so vile that I had to omit it for everyone else's sake. That's how awesome this band is.
