I love Sumeria, it's my favorite track of the album. The last line sung by Paul Masdival always gets me, especially with the detached way it's sung. "Pray for where our hearts lead us now..."
Yeah, LTE's two albums were huge inspirations on my guitar playing.
Instrumental metal you say? Coming right up!
I want to have Tosin Abasi's adopted babies.

It's been posted before, but I love me some Cloudkicker.
And I might as well end with the heaviest Dream theater Instrumental, if not heaviest song they have done, Raw Dog, which is God War backwards. This is their contribution to the God of War bonus album.
For whatever reason, this is my song of choice on the NYC subway.
There is an indescribable look of horror on my face right now, but my heart feels such joy.
Anyone have thoughts on the new Dream Theater single? I'm pumped up for the album, but the song is definitely a grower, the more I listen to it, the more I like it.

That seems to be the general consensus. I heard it for the first time last night, and I dunno, it felt a bit slow and typical DT to me. Maybe it deserves another listen.
It's meant to be Typical DT, the album is going back to their roots, apparently. I'm just glad all the high-school drama Portnoy caused is done and over with, that was definitely not the highest point on the band's history. =w=;
I saw Septic Flesh play with Devin Townsend. Been a long time fan of both bands, Septic made bigger moshpits and got the crowd moving more than even the headliner did, but Townsend has an abnormal amount of crowd surfers, one which kicked me in the face.
Mechanical Babylon, Lovecraft's death, and Communion are my favorite tracks.
Decent songs, but not really my thing. I'm more of a fan of the Chinese languages too. Apparently I'm strange for thinking that, but oh well. I think it's great that the genre has reached both nations though. It's nice to check out metal beyond the regular North American and European areas.

On a more awesome note, take the guys from Dream Theater, take out the vocals, have them go absolutely nuts, and you get this -
Relatedly, I've been getting waaaay into instrumental metal, primarily involving one dude wailing on a guitar:

So far my experience has been that Chinese metal > Japanese metal.
Also, you should be listening to Septicflesh.
Hate Eternal's latest is possibly the most aggressive anything I've heard in a long time.
Mechanical Babylon, Lovecraft's death, and Communion are my favorite tracks.
Strongly differ...
