Also, Los Angeles is apparently very likely to gonna get some trouble soon.
    A 5.5 to 6.5 earthquake ain't shit.
Besides the fact that earthquake prediction has known to be about as reliable as astrology.

I'm still waiting for that 9.1, city-destroying earthquake that we're supposedly long overdue for.

  • System of a Down: Toxicity but played on electric violins.

  • System of a Down: Toxicity but played on electric violins.
That was one of the sexiest things I have ever seen.
  • I forgot to mention the hot girls.
  • This song is pretty awesome, and as an added bonus, the Bassist is so SERIOUS BUSINESS that it's hilarious.

  • I got a call from my tobacconist today, and my Pipe has been repaired. Much awesome.
Oh mans. I just bought a pipe last weekend from the tobacco shop in Georgetown (Washington DC). Sometime this week I'm getting half a box of delicious cuban cigars from my friend. Coffee shops in Rochester have ashtrays on most of their outside tables.

Pictures, if you would, good sir. Of your pipe, not the coffee shop ashtrays.

Also, I'm addicted to this sound.

The speech that Nixon would have given if the Apollo 11 astronauts had been stranded on the moon. It's like a weird kind of real-life alternate history. Also, a pretty good speech. But space-travel always gets me a bit misty.

  • A bit on the long side, but lots of bonkers skills and randomness. Parkour/breakdance/acrobatics from Latvia:

  • One man band with music that is actually listenable-to.
  • In my ongoing battle against annoying LEDs, black electrical tape is the thing of my day.
  • Taking a photograph of one of the tallest trees on Earth.

  • I need to know what it is!

A local sushi restaurant has $1 (one dollar!) rolls on Monday and Wednesday. Since we're in Central Illinois and I have read Kitchen Confidential, I'm sure that it's just a way to quickly rush out the last week's fish before the Chi-town purveyors get in on Tuesday. However, given that sushi is pretty awful here, with exception of three or four joints (of which this is one), and that they uniformly overcharge ($14 for a dragon roll!? In the burbs they charge $8), I will eat my cheap sushi and not complain. Plus, unagi is cooked. And therefore safe (and delicious!).

I can't wait for the summer though. Bonita fishing with a friend in Massachusetts. Sashimi all afternoon, every other day, for several weeks.

EDIT: Well, if it sounds too good to be true, etc. Turns out it's a buck a piece. Might as well just buy a 14pc special roll from the best sushi place in town for $12 and leave satisfied.

  • Exothermic reactions. No matter how many times I see one. I still think it's pretty cool. :)

    That's pretty hot.

  • Play Race for the Galaxy against an AI

Holy crap, that's awesome. I need to show my friend this. He loves Race For the Galaxy. It's an okay game, imo. It takes a few games to get a feel for it, and even then it's a bit difficult to come up with a good strategy. This is definitely not a game for people who are just getting into board/card gaming.
  • I just listened to a short lecture and Q&A session by Clay Shirky. I've read and listened to him before, but oh my god this guy is so intelligent he makes me feel like a complete idiot. And I'm really not! His articles and talks are great, but that he had a really GOOD answer for EVERY question the audience threw at him really impressed me.
  • "You are being shagged by a rare parrot."
  • Paul Pope doing "Dune" in the "Wednesday Comics" format. His blog post is vague, so I don't know whether he's actually adapting Dune, or if this was just for fun, but it's awesome either way. (More awesome if he really adapts Dune, though.)
