  • Everyone knows you have to hide them in cavity areas
Well, whatever floats your boat, I suppose.

My question is: why Norway? Wouldn't it be too cold for them there?

  • Felicia Day did a video for NASA. It's pretty awesome.

Not when it involves animal cruelty or beings incapable of consent.

Oh fine, be that way. :P

I do not advocate the cramming of any animals into any orifice without that animal's consent. Besides, snakes and newts are excellent vectors for Salmonella, and you don't want that anywhere near you. Unless you're Norwegian, it would seem.

Not those kinds of cavities, you gutter-brains! That's why I gave the example of an armpit.

Regarding why, Norway prohibits many reptiles from being kept as pets, and where there is a prohibition on an animal, there is a market for it. People will buy the animals at a premium price because dammit, they want their snake or lizard and the government isn't gonna keep them from getting it. Illegal pet trade is very similar to the illegal drug trade. (Also, it's too cold for them HERE, too...but people use heat lamps and rocks and other things as well.)

  • I have an interview with the Disney College Program tomorrow at 7:45! I'm so excited!
  • Our school bookstore has a box set of all of the Tintin books as digest-sized hardcovers for $150. I am so tempted.
  • Tintin books as digest-sized hardcovers
Digest-sized? You mean like manga-sized? Man, that's shrunk down to like 1/3 of the original size. I'd avoid it. I mean, this is a series that averages like 12 panels/page.

That is so frickin' awesome! W00t to Tintin! When are Rym and Scott gonna cut the bullshit of "only going to buy it if it's an omnibus" and just buy it and review it. Seriously though, black and white is an abomination concerning Tintin as there is so much to be gotten from the color as the comic itself feels empty and bland without it and the art style sort of requires color or else it doesn't work.

No, perhaps I misspoke. They're 8.6"x6" hardcovers. I've looked at them before in comparison to the originals; they retain the detail and clarity of the big-book originals.

Word. I grew up on Tintin and Asterix (First generation American, whassup?), and I can attest to the fact that half of what Goscinny&Uderzo; and Hergé pulled off was due to the magnificence of their color work. Also, Tintin has some wicked awesome "kids" storylines (chasing down drug smugglers!? C'mon!) and some cool political commentary.

If you intend on having children, give them these books. The set is $95 on Amazon.

I'm ashamed to admit that I have read very little of Asterix mainly because it is so hard to find those books in order and my bookstore rarely ever have them in stock. I don't know if it's a consequence due to them disappearing off the shelves because of readers or because there aren't enough sales to warrant any future purchases of the series.
  • Probably the lack of US readership. I have loads of the books in English and Spanish (if you're ever in Europe, they are abundant), but for now your best bet is to grab a chronology and hit Amazon.
  • lizards on his legs.
Is that a lizard in your pants or are you just happy to see me?

    Sorry, I couldn't resist.
  • Is that a lizard in your pants or are you just happy to see me?
Christ, you would have to be really fucking excited.

Actually, those leopard geckos are a comparable size...
  • I believe the quote is "Is that a carrot in you pocket, or are you happy to see me."

Is that a mirror in your pants? Because I can see myself in them.

Is that me in your pants, or am I mixing up the present and the future again?

I was thinking more about what a lizard would be doing if I put it in my pants.

They can review it! Timo lent both Asterix volumes and TinTin (also Moebius and others) to us, all the way from Finland! I read almost all of them, but the boys keep putting it off. I would love nothing more than to do a Timo's box show.

Wow, they have been in almost every Barnes and Nobles I've gone to over the past few years.

Yeah! Sometimes it is a little old-fashioned in its portrayal of "natives" (although for its time it was fairly advanced), but the work holds up both artistically and in the enjoyment of its stories. I like Tin Tin a lot. (I just read Pharaoh's Cigars a while back.)
  • Interview with R. Scott Bakker in SFWorld.
LOL. I read this and even read portions of this to you years ago.

Yes, but was it a thing of the day? (Behold, my dodge.)
  • TOTDs need not be new. Contrary to popular belief, there are many things on the net that many people have not seen.

Today I went to hang out in town with Churba, I found a significant amount of money in my account I'd forgotten about and then we went to this awesome Persian cafe and I had chicken, vegetable and awesome sandwiches. Business continues to steadily improve and a good day was had by all.

I agree. I just think it is funny that I read that article to him and we have had many discussions since then that referenced the article, yet he forgot all about it. Adam makes me smile.
