As for a future computer, I'm thinking about naming it Dave Riley. EDIT: I will log in as 'Joel White' and shall use the password 'Fast Karate for the Gentleman'. The guest account will be named 'Jack Bauer' with password 'notaterrorist', their home directories will be symlinks to my Fast Karate for the Gentleman podcast archive.
My family has a tradition of naming our computers after Disney characters. At one point we had all seven dwarves along with Snow White and Prince Charming in our house. We've overhauled our network since then, though. Currently, my computers are:
Desktop: Nala Laptop rescued from a dump: Zazu Laptop I use for school/on a regular basis: Simba
My computers are named after Godzilla monsters. My flash drives are named after "Don Ramon" but since it's "La llave Maya" femenine (I know its not the same thing, but it's the name that caught on, like Kleenex) then I name them "Ramona n" where "n = n+1" every time I buy a new one.
I have given these things names, but my family isn't geeky enough to understand the concept of this nor do this on a regular basis. They think it's weird, but I could care less. I'll also include my portable devices as well. I can't quite put my finger on it, but there seems to be a pattern between the names I give them.
Current Desktop PC (3rd) - Chandra My Laptop - Bowman My Previous Desktop PC (2nd) - Tycho Magnetic Anomaly 2 (TMA-2 for short) My First Desktop PC - Grue My iPhone - Monolith My iPod Touch (now my Mother's since I got the iPhone) - HAL My original iPod Classic - Discovery

School laptop is some sort of serial identification number. My mom's little laptop that runs with a pentium 3 is called y0sxmyax2sb30xf, it was bought on ebay. My dad's computer is called M because it used to be my mom's computer. Her name starts with M.
Things have changed a bit since I posted three years ago....
My PC is called Cube, after a character from the SNES game Live A Live. My iPod is still named Quaid (after the Total Recall protagonist), but now it's Mk. III as my iPod's hard drive had to be wiped recently.
Has it occurred to you that I don't care? Not only is every single name in this thread entirely unoriginal, because just about any name short of randomly generated combinations of letters is unoriginal, I couldn't be bothered to go use Google on a different computer while I was naming this one for the first time. At least I spelt it correctly.
