Many fans, and Glen A. Larson himself, no longer recognize Galactica 1980 as part of "official" continuity.

Excellent link. I now rescind my earlier statements of Mormonism and BSG.

Reading about the "Super Scouts" reminded me of those episodes that never happened. Thanks for reminding me of them and shattering my nostalgic love of the series.

I also have to say that I am not likeing this whole "one god" storyline.

  • Are you sure this is the biggest “Galactica” ever?
    Yes.

Bigger than the episode that ended with Boomer putting two bullets in Bill Adama's chest?
    Yes.

Bigger than the episode that leapt ahead a year?
    Yes.

Bigger than the episode that revealed the Watchtower Four?
    Yes.
Thems some big shoes to fill.
  • Thems some big shoes to fill.
They wrote this episode so that it could be used as the series finale in case the writers strike never ended.
  • I don't know about anyone else, but this episode was really, really fucking good.
  • I don't know about anyone else, but this episode was really, really fucking good.
I was at a wedding rehearsal... I won't be able to watch it until Sunday.... *pout*
  • The episode was good. I will have to watch it again.
  • I don't know about anyone else, but this episode was really, really fucking good.
Agreed. It's a shame we had to wade through so many poor episodes in this season to get there, though.

Also, who else thinks that the ruined city at the end of the episode was New York?

Gah!! The episode is already in uTorrent due to the RSS feed, but my download scheduler was on, limiting my torrent speed to 15kb/s.
It looks like I'll have to wait ~7 hours to watch it (and it's already 8:35pm here).

    The torrent sped up.
    WIN!

This is EXACTLY what I thought.

I was expecting a "Planet of the Apes" moment.
  • I honestly don't think that was it. It would be too cheesy and predictable. I will be disappointed if thats what it turns out to be, though.
  • After that lovely fake-out this episode, the writers can go fuck themselves.
Well goddamn. They restored my faith with just one episode. It was brilliant!

  • Ha, cute.

The last episode went so far, that I almost feel that more episodes of the show are unnecessary. I will still watch to the end, I am just not sure I will anticipate/get as excited about the upcoming episodes.
  • Aw, that vid really is cute.
I agree, I don't see where they can go with the coming episodes.
  • I don't see where they can go with the coming episodes.
We still don't know who the final Cylon is. We don't know what the "head people" are. How did Starbuck survive (did she survive?), and where did her brand-new fighter come from? And, of course, the question posed by the final minutes of last episode: what the frak do they do now?

The show still has some juice left.
  • That mostly seems like tying up loose ends to me.

The final Cylon is of interest, but they've left it so long that it's really going to have to hit hard now.

I have long assumed that the "head" people were merely cylon projections. As an aside, Baltar may have garnered the ability to create a "head" version of himself due to sustained interaction with Caprica 6 in Head 6 form, possibly just as a self-defense mechanism. Alternatively, it could have been Tori projecting although she was probably not conscious of the ability.

I did note in this last episode that D'Anna said that the final cylon was either not in the fleet or in the ship. I am assuming from this that this final cylon is probably on (or under) Earth's surface and likely is responsible in whole or in part for Starbuck's mysterious ressurection. I hope.

I note again that D'Anna found said it was not on the fleet. Also, D'Anna and a random 8 were both either standing right next to or sitting in said fighter and said nothing. I would assume if it were the final cylon there would be some manner of reaction from them both.

    I thought of that too.

Perhaps we will find out that the colony that went to Earth also created Cylons and the final five were the only survivors of the conflict.

You think they were sent to the colonial planets a la Superman style?

I don't know if I would go that far but Adama did reveal that he had known Saul Tigh for what, 30 years?

According to the Wikipedia page Saul Tigh Tigh entered the Colonial Fleet as an enlisted man during the first Cylon war. Still a teenager, he was serving on the Brenik when it was boarded by Cylon Centurions. It is possible that the "real" Saul Tigh was used as a blueprint for the Cylon version.
  • It is possible that the "real" Saul Tigh was used as a blueprint for the Cylon version.
I highly doubt it because if this were true, the regular human models would know the final five. I don't think that the final five were created by the cylons who attacked the colonies.

I don't mean it that way. I mean whoever made the final five may have taken five real humans and used them to make the final five from (transplant memories). Or they could be more like the hybrids in that they are human with Cylon stuff added to them. That might also explain how Tigh got the 6 pregnant.

The Cylons didn't know who the other four were until recently, despite having had contact with them before.

  • I would also like to point out that D'Anna could have been lying.

AFAIK D'Anna is the only one who knows who the fifth cylon is. When she declares that cylon is not on the fleet it implies she knows where that cylon is. There are close to 40K people in the fleet. Either she is lying about the last one or the last one could have already been on the base ship but not yet aware that it is a cylon. Well, or it could already be dead.
  • I am not the only one who heard this.
D'Anna saw all five on the algae planet in the episode "Eye of Jupiter". She is the only one with the knowledge in the whole show. In the episode where she sees each of the five, all are representated as glowing, anthropomorphic forms. I would assume that a viper would not be something she would except to see in that situation and would have had some manner of reactuion above and beyond what she did. Aside from shock, her only reaction was to apologize to one, presumably Tigh who her model tortured on New Caprica.

Why would she lie? She went through much of the fleet when she was doing her documentary exposee as a spy. She had ample opportunity here. Her entire goal was to meet the five because she felt compelled to have a religious experience, seeking more from her existance. If he or she were there, and presumably in one of the characters everyone has currrently assumed, D'Anna would have met them.
