What?! The final cylon is a "skin-job". It is the final five human-like models. Do you even watch the show?
Heh, yeah, they've told us it's a skin-job, but I probably forgot this after reading other crazy theories. In any case, it does seem like the final Cylon is at the very least connected to Starbuck's fighter somehow.

I think the final cylon is n the dead planet and is "The Architect" or its agent.
I still need to see the middle episodes of the series. I keep wondering about how Tigh has known Adamma since the first Cylon war... I think in the original series the humans did not create the Cylons.
It was hella dark indeed. I liked the music a lot too and thought it complemented the scenery and visuals really well. Then again, that may be because I've had the BSG version of "All Along the Watchtower" stuck in my head all day.
In other news, can we start some discussion about the amount of crazy stuff that went down? (Spoilers below) ~Dee kills herself ~Starbuck finds, then burns, her own body. Leoben's reaction her was priceless in my opinion. ~Roslin goes emo ~Adama goes emo, then back to command ~Ellen is the fifth ~Oh, and someone spray paints "FRAK EARTH" on the wall. That was pretty funny.
Don't forget to watch the new series of Web Episodes on Hulu.
For those interested, they're also available on iTunes for free in HD, though I'm not sure how long that's going to last.
That was BSG at its best. The Dee scene completely caught me off guard and that doesn't happen often. It takes a long time to build up to something that epic.

When she said she could not even remember the time when the photograph of her as a kid was taken I began to think she was the final cylon.
I was a bit disappointed in the episode. It was hard to stay and ever moment of dialogue felt labored and "samey"; it was as if the strongest characters all lost their individuality. I understand that it can't be happy-go-lucky at this point in the plot and I don't mind it being a "downer episode", but each "reveal moment" dragged into "reveal 15 minutes". Spoilers: While I know some people were disappointed that the Ellen was the "final cylon", I was disappointed that it wasn't emotionally compelling. Her being the final cylon only added to Tigh's angst pile and did nothing to move the story along (at least not yet). The reveal should have had some punch, but instead it just fizzled. It seems like this episode was attempting to be gut-wrenchingly sad, but after the first thirty minutes, it was just dull. You can only watch people emote for so long. Also, was anyone really upset with Dee's death? She is a character that has faded into the background so much in the past season that it was hard to feel invested in her. Again, her death only added to the Adama duo's angst pile. I will watch the rest of the season, because I love the series so much, but I really fear that the show may have jumped the shark. @HTMKSteve, I believe the 13th colony arrived on the planet 2,000 years ago - not that the nuclear war broke out 2,000 years ago, but I may be mistaken.
Spoilers: I'm pretty sure it was said that the planet was nuked 2,000 years ago (that was according to the research that Baltar confirmed in the episode).
Also, I have enough faith in the show that I expect the big reveal to be more fully and awesomely developed. Though I can understand the draggish nature of the episode, I think it bears remembering that this episode was never meant to be a season opener and that according to Ron Moore and company that the last episode before it was never meant to be a season cliffhanger. To that end I have the feeling that lots of people were expecting a lot more than just a normal continuation of the plot and in that sense the "dull" nature of the episode might be slightly more justified.
Mrs. MacRoss, did we watch the same show? If you thought that was dull, I'd hate to think about what you would consider exciting. I surely would not survive it whatever it may be.

I think she might have been watching the episode of stargate that played afterwards.
I mean it answered a bunch of questions and those lead to different questions, plus I think everyone reacted realistically for a group of people surviving only because of a common hope that was just horribly dashed.

I kinda have to agree with Mrs. Macross. I actually fell asleep soon after Adama went to see Tigh.
I think they should rename this show "Impossibly Pretty People trying to show Angst, but not Quite Getting There", or "I've Lost All Hope, buy My Hair and Makeup Are Still Perfect", or, better yet, "Pretty Cylons are Pretty".

I don't quite understand how you guys missed that Admiral Adama was going to flip out this eps. If you watched other eps in the season recently you'd noticed how much crap has piled on him in the last few days in show time. Between the deaths of crew members he really cared for (not just Dee), some of his trusted crew turning out to be cylons or breaking his trust (Athena), finally getting somewhere with the president (and giving up his command to do it) only to have her completely withdraw from him and give up on life and then finding out the one hope the entire fleet had dashed, there is only so much a man can take, There were characters who managed to deal with everything going on in a way that I wouldn't consider angstful, Young Adama clearly went through a ton of shit this eps and managed to pull through looking like a leader and Tigh finally got a grip on himself and started to come back around. I just don't understand why you guys can't see that after the events of the past few eps there would be a majorly down morale eps and even the most happy go lucky people would be nearly crushed. This had to be a dark eps and it was, the only problem I had was the lack of space battles :-p
Perhaps too many people were looking at this episode as a season premiere? As has been said before, this episode (and the previous one) were not meant to be aired as season cliffhangers and openings.
I was happy with the developments in the episode. Several questions were answered and a few new ones have been asked.
Adama Sr. getting all emotional? What do you expect. He brought the fleet all the way to Earth only to find out that the planet is not suitable for human life. That is a huge disappointment considering in the beginning he didn't even believe Earth existed. Add to this the fact that the thirteenth colony was Cylon and you have an even bigger blow to his psyche.
PS: Has the question of why there is no number 7 model ever been answered?

My criticisms aren't with what happened at all. To me it suffered from the Star Wars Episodes 1-3 "slower and more" intense directing, acting, and pacing. The events and the information we learned weren't dull, but people's reactions were dull and some major plot points used as kindling for the great angst fire. There was reason to have all of the character be upset and distraught, but the poor pacing and lack-luster dialogue changed the mood from genuine emotional distress to a colorless, passionless angst. It didn't resonate for me, it almost felt like it was trying too hard to resonate and turned drama into melodrama.
No not at all, I especially like how the rebellion either was full of or disposed of some of the supporting characters you always see. It was also nice to see Starbuck (not to mention Adama and Tigh) finally get her groove back and be a little badass instead of just angsty :-p

Good advice when Tigh tells you you've had too much to drink, you've had too much to drink.

Are they planning to tell the story of the final five in the remaining episodes?
