Getting a tonsil removed this summer. Plus, it turns out that tonsillectomy is one of those things that gets worse the older you are, so I'm looking at two weeks of no work, no exercise recovery, followed by another week of no travel, and I'm supposed to co-op this summer.
My hives seem to be on the way to clearing up just in time for my doctor's appointment this afternoon.
Doctor confirmed I don't have the MeasaherpAIDS. Said it's in fact hives like I susepcted, and that I probably just had an allergic reaction to something I ate or just the changing seasons. Recommended I take Zetec and we'll see how it goes when I have my physical in 3 weeks.
I have had a lot of tenderness in my upper back/neck recently. It's something I've dealt with since a car accident about 5 years ago, it comes and goes, but damn if it hasn't been really bad in the last week.
Whatever right, alternate ice/heating pad, do some extra stretches as recommended by my physical therapist.
But god damn, I wish everyone would stop telling me to go see a chiropractor and get "adjusted." I'm just going to stop telling people the truth when they ask how I'm doing.
Some prat trying to convince me that the NSA was only a conspiracy theory until a year and a half ago.
Well, it depends, but we're splitting hairs here. Techies have known that the NSA was capable of the shit they've been pulling since the 90's. Some of them even, either seriously or humorously, added various keywords designed to spam up the NSA's filters to every email and forum posting they made as a result. The main debate was between techies who thought that "yes, the NSA could do this, but they wouldn't because it was illegal, yaddda yadda, and they wouldn't actually try to break the law" and the others who were like, "they don't give a shit about the law, they're doing it."
The revelations of a year and a half ago basically proved that the NSA didn't give a shit about the law.

If we're splitting hairs, it's because I didn't put it correctly - he doesn't mean that, he means the actual existence of the NSA was a conspiracy theory.
As for the Capable part, not techies knew it - Dude, they got hit up with a massive lawsuit for what amounted to industrial Espionage using the ECHELON network. And I don't know who thought they wouldn't do it because it was illegal, but I'm betting Americans - Most people I know from the rest of the world just had a basic assumption that they could and were spying on citizens of other nations essentially constantly.
I would argue that the year-and-a-half ago revelations would be more "They don't care that much about American Law, either."
Ooooooooh, okay, yeah, I see where you're coming from on the failure. Geeze...
ECHELON was the thing I was talking about concerning techies salting their postings with keywords designed to clog up its works. I didn't know there was actually a lawsuit involving it though.
You're also right that it was mostly Americans who thought they wouldn't do what they're doing because it was illegal -- in part, mostly because it was part of the NSA's charter of creation that they were not allowed to conduct domestic spying. Foreign stuff was something else entirely, and it was certainly much more debatable as to whether foreign spying was legal or not (and what kinds of foreign spying were legal or not). Even when it came to foreign spying, it seemed that most Americans, myself included, thought it was pretty much limited to deciphering intercepted Russian/Chinese/etc. military communications and not just sucking up every little bit of foreign communications they could get their hands on, whether it consisted of Vladimir Putin's orders to the Russian Army or Ivan the Average's grocery list (ECHELON not withstanding).
I was hoping to read through the third Saga trade this weekend but it was stolen from the mail. This is the first time I've had mail stolen. Also the person carelessly left the opened packaging right near the mailbox.
Out oldest cat, Cole, was recently diagnosed with diabetes on his recent checkup. It's something that happens to cats when they get older. Insulin and gluclometers for animals are not cheap.
At least they caught it early. But now it's a different diet vs the other two cats with taking his blood sugar twice a day.

That is unfortunate, don't they hold them for you if you're not home? Sometimes the mail guy will hide the package in front of the pillar of our house which is literally outside our door but this seems to happen only once every 10 times I can't remember the last time it happened.

Can happen at any age or not at all, age doesn't matter. Your Vet will most likely be (or should be) using glargine insulin and recommending a glargine augmented diet such as Hills m/d. The insulin does will drop over time to the point where you will be able to manage Cole on just the m/d food.
It's way easier to treat diabetic cats then dogs.
All the best with separating him from the other cat's foods and vice versa!
There is a locked door at the front of our building but since its open on one side and slightly built into the side of a hill someone could possibly jump the ledge and get in. I've done it on a couple occasions when I accidentally forget my keys. On larger items they'll ask for a signature. On smaller items the mailman will just leave them at the mailboxes, which are still behind locked doors but as previously stated could be accessed by someone who is determined to get in. Talking to my landlord he claims this is the first mail theft claim he's received which is kinda surprising. I'd expect at least a couple around Christmas when there are several packages stacked near the mailboxes. It might have been a freak occurrence I suppose, I've been fine in the past. Just weird someone would hold on to a $10 comic. I contacted Amazon and just claimed I never received the package and they sent a replacement so in the end it worked out but it's irksome that my mail was stolen in the first place.

So far it's been up and down. Giving him insulin isn't too much of a problem, but getting his blood glucose is a PITA. It's hard to get a decent drop from his ears or paws. I saw some good tips online. Need to warm up his years.
As for eating, we are switching him to canned food, which is a big change because he's been mainly eating dry kibble his enter life. It sucks because the other two, especially Digit-the piggy cat, is always trying to get to his canned food. We have to separate them for now. Also we are taking all the cats off of having their dishes with some food 24/7.
It's a difficult time right now because they are meowing so much. Also Cole seems to not eat as much and drink more from what I've noticed. His last blood sugar was 270, which is high but ok. I need to contact the vet for better advice. I'm also thinking about getting the dry prescription food, but some people say it's such a rip-off and I should stick to canned. However, if that's the case the two other cats may need to be put on canned as well to keep it even.
But yeah, we're using Lantus pens that works well. So easy to use. The hardest thing is that Cole is super skittish and doesn't like being held or have anyone around him when he eats.
I think the fail isn't that he's a featured guest anywhere, but specifically at Book Con. As a literary con, it should have higher standards than that.
Our dryer stopped working and we thought it was the belt or motor. It turns out an animal went through the exhaust and got stuck in the blower wheel. Want to venture a guess at what the animal was?
I'm just going to bitch a bit about the company poker tournament I showed up to last night. I apparently sat at the "novice" table by accident. Not a deal breaker. But the guy giving instructions and explaining the game irked me. He kept falling into the pitfalls of trying to explain the games heuristics from his current frame of reference and focusing on strategy over mechanics. I teach a lot of games. I teach a lot of things in general. I consider myself a damn fine teacher. It just grated on me. He knows his one game, poker, and he explains it to other people in the same way he processes the information in his head. Throw on top of this a whole attitude all the dealers had and projected of superiority, and they're missing the forest for the trees. It was a free company paid for event full of people that may play this game only once this year. That should inform how you communicate with your audience. One of my co-workers girlfriends was laughed at for reacting non-optimally at the blackjack table. Oy.
I expect a lot of "that guys" exist in the gambling gaming community. It doesn't really matter that they are "that guy" because it's played for the money. Similar, I guess, to professional gaming.

Also, look what he's holding in his hand in the picture. How fitting...

I got an email from them that one of the featured guests attending, along with Stan Lee is Grumpy Cat. Grumpy Cat is a FEATURED GUEST.

Strangely, it had nothing to do with Mozilla itself. It turns out he made an outburst against gay rights.
Huh. Who knew.
