I just got a job offer! From Google! I'll probably be moving to the San Francisco area in a month or two, then.
My buddy David is being scooped up in the same group for Mountain View, if you come across a guy from Perth, Australia you met him, but likely there will be a lot of people that will then spread out.
My good friend who is a manager at Barnes & Noble once again gave me the tip-off on when seasonal clearance dropped to 75% off (this morning). Swung by my local store around opening and picked up several $300 Nanoblock sets for $75 minus an extra 10%. Listed on eBay from my car for $10 less than the going rate, and I've already got money in my PayPal account.

Wait you guys still have physical book-stores? All the stores died through most of Australia, you occasionally have the weird 2nd hand book store or niche gaming / comics shop and airport newsagents but nothing else.

Nah man, you still see the odd Angus and Robertson, Dymocks, Collins, or what have you about, usually in shopping centers. But not as often as you used to, that's for certain. Otherwise, you're right - It's often either Niche, secondhand, or online.
Yeah we still have physical bookstores. Less than in the past, but that's also a big reason why I'm buying clearance toys from them, not books. Barnes & Noble will eventually go bankrupt, but they've done a stellar job of diversifying over the years.
A Starbucks cafe renting out space in every store. A gigantic section selling only music, which eventually faded away as they jumped on the DVD bandwagon early, which also eventually faded away as the created their own Nook tablet and became a mini Apple store clone. They've also greatly expanded their toy and hobby offerings. They stock things you would never otherwise see in mass retail, only mom and pop you shops, nerdy comic/games shops, etc.
I still shop for all that stuff on Amazon, except when it's 75% off, or in the $2 bin.
My Daughter was born after over two days of contractions but only 31 minutes of pushing. *exhausted* Introducing Kaywinnet "Kaylee" Lee Johnson Jul 26 2014, 6:24 am, 7 pounds 12 ounces, 22 inches.
Job get. Kind of out of the blue and I only have like 4-5 weeks before I'm leaving for uni. I'll be upgrading RAM and installing software on 20 laptops a week for $500 a week. Not too shabby. Pretty good spending money. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, the area code of the phone number my employer gave to me is in Rochester.
The Edinburgh Festival is 3 weeks long and the biggest in the world. There are something like 3,000 shows on in the city. The average audience size is, legendarily, about 3 people.
Yesterday I was ill, so did no promotion, and nobody came to my show. Which is good, because I was ill.
Today I did more promotion, and I had 27 people come to my show. I sold 4 CD's and made a total of £49. So my two day average is above average, I guess.
Everyone at the end asked me why I didn't do more juggling in my show.
Just finished fixing the pipes in my half bath. Every winter they froze and burst because the idiot who built it (and the inspector who approved it) did not properly insulate the pipes.
I have a temporary PEX line going to the toilet inside the bathroom which I will replace with copper once I am confident in my welding skills.
Also put in a new vanity because before there was a high end "in the wall" faucet that had a pipe burst an inch before the mixing valve.
Finally got a good playdate situation going on with my little girl and another 3-year-old from her class. Bonus boo-yah: Hung out at the kid's house and was BS'ing with the dad. Turns out he's a huge arcade game nerd, and outside of his tech job in the financial industry, is the software lead for a local pinball company that I was just reading about (and had played their first game just two weeks before). Yep, he's got one in his basement. That was a productive afternoon.

Soon in a tech conference near you...
Congratulations

Edit: Here.
