Hey, Yupa, that's great! I'd say, study up on the internet about photography composition and technique, plan out and execute a themed sequences of shots, and you're halfway there to becoming a budding DP. Take your little digi-camera around for research and snapshots, take the beauty SLR when you are serious about getting that one photo that is ART!
I have no interest in becoming a DP, I'm just pursuing a bunch of interests that encompass a lot of the aspects of filmmaking.
I was visiting my family for the past few days (Cleveland, OH). I accidentally waited a lot longer than I was counting on before starting the errands I had to run this morning, before driving back downstate (Columbus, OH) to get home in time for work. This was a fail.
What came out of it:
I managed to deposit a check into my account and fill my tank with gas before leaving, navigating inexplicably heavy traffic flow in the process.
In between those two items, I also prevented an elderly gentleman from merging onto the highway with his trunk open (and luggage exposed).
I apparently found the right balance between speeding down the highway and slowing to avoid tickets (other drivers were not so lucky, including a car I recognized as being the one that had pulled an asshole move to get ahead of me not ten minutes earlier). This turned what would have been zero time to get ready before work into a fifteen-minute grace period.
Once home, I paid off my car insurance bill (due today), thanks to the money I had deposited earlier. Said payment has left me with a balance in the single digits, which (while not ideal), means I will most likely just make it to payday (Friday) without technically bankrupting myself.
Thanks to the earlier speeding, I managed to make it to work with a few minutes to spare, meaning I wasn't late for the mandatory staff meeting.
I also didn't miss the meeting, meaning my employment is secure...unlike a certain slacker, for whom this was apparently the last straw. This will directly translate into more hours for everyone left, myself included.
Finally, about an hour ago (and completely unrelated to anything else) I managed to successfully backhand a housefly, mid-flight.
I'm not entirely certain all of that strictly deserves a "boo-yah!" (in truth, maybe two of those items), but goddamn if I don't feel good right now.

Wait, I might be misunderstanding this one. Backhanding a fly on a wall would hurt like fuck, backhanding it in mid-flight's the normal, not that hard to do, thing. Either way, sounds like you had a great day GIP.
I went walking with my dog Kita through the nearby park yesterday, where we'd found a whole bunch of new paths recently. There are lots of overgrown areas, some small wooded areas, and open fields that are being prepared to be re-planted. We walked and ran together, and it felt great to be out and carefree like that for a while. As the sun was setting, some fireflies came out (and I'd thought they were all dead at this point), and so did some bats. I'd never seen any bats here in NYC before. It was super cool.
Also, I've been walking Kita through that section of the park as part of training her to walk off-leash in a woodsy/distracting environment. She's taking to it really well! She lags a little for sniffing and sometimes diverts too far, but she always comes back to me and travels where I travel. I'm so proud of my doggy.
I ran into a girl today and we had the following exchange:
Girl: "You have really good taste in music." Me: "It's hard to find people with good taste in music around here, I pretty much love Fleet Foxes and Sufjan Stevens." G: "Oh my God, I love the Fleet Foxes." M: "...Do you like The Black Keys?" G: *voice gets all sultry, smirks* "I like The Black Keys." M: "I love The Black Keys."
So then we parted ways and I closed the door to my room, and came to the realization that there was some heavy flirting over the fucking BLACK KEYS going on. College is becoming kinder to me. I think Dan Auerbach is smiling somewhere.

It must be awesome to be you. I was eating in the dining hall with some friends and there was a girl at another table that kept looking at me, and it was surprisingly not in a glaring "what the hell is this crazy guy saying" sort of glare. Unfortunately for me, she didn't seem to like me saying (in a rather loud voice), "and I'll form the head!" when my friends were talking about collaborating on something.

Lucky bastard. I still have yet to find anyone with even a remotely similar taste in music at my school, period. You're on a whole 'nother plane.

Were they not familiar with Voltron GoLion? If so, then that is probably what weirded her out or something. It is indeed funny though.
That's strange; I can quote the posts above and below Sail's comment, but I the quote button on his post is not functioning. I guess I'll just have to do this the hard way.

I imagine that, even as I step into the larger world, I will always have the same problem. A lot of the music I listen to just tends to get on people's nerves, and I have trouble imagining myself flirting over something like The Wu-Tang Clan or Venetian Snares.
The only places I ever find people with the same taste in music as me are on the internet and at shows. And the show buddies usually end up becoming internet buddies anyway
I have trouble imagining myself flirting over something like The Wu-Tang Clan or Venetian Snares.
I've only ever geeked out over VSnares (and one of our mutual passions, that is, the local Chicago House scene) with one woman: a curvy white Junglist, no more than four years older than I, who had dreads dyed crimson at their ends. She was helping run a Model UN conference I was attending. We also geeked out about the state of modern anarchy.
Ah, to meet another such as her...
EDIT: Woke up this morning and realized that the "white" descriptor might draw some flak. Just wanted to state that it was only included because this was the only Caucasian person I've ever seen who managed to pull off dreadlocks.
Got a job offer with a 20% pay rise and astronomically good radiology, radiography and pathology equipment, finally!!! Plus it's in the middle of the city so it gives me a reason to finally move out of the suburbs and into the awesomeness of being able to walk or catch a tram to work.
Concurrent fail, will have to work myself out of current lease and find an appropriate apartment / studio

Damn you guys make me miss University!
The majority of people I come across who have similar music tastes to me are male and the only 2 females that have - one was already engaged and the other was 10 years older than me!
I finally understand why Emily loves bunnies so much, because tonight I had an experience that I will never forget because I literally saved one's life. I was going home walking down my street from the town faire, and I heard a sound that sounded like an animal crying in pain. I didn't want to scare it so I took out my flashlight that I had in my backpack and turned it to a low setting. I found a little rabbit and he was really hurt, like his leg was bleeding and stuff and I could tell an animal got at it, but didn't finish it off. It was so cute and it was crying in so much pain, and I started to cry too because it broke my heart to see something like this. I had knowledge of how to tell whether a wild animal was safe to approach. I learned he was safe to touch and did not have any signs of rabies or any other contagious disease. I pet him a little and it calmed him down quite a bit.
I knew the Animal Control number, and I called the sheriff up and I told him what happened and understood immediately and sent a truck down right away. He thanked me for my selfless and kind act and said I could visit it in a few weeks when it has healed up. I went over to the rabbit and I said good-bye to it and it looked back at me with the cutest eyes I've ever seen in an animal. Bunnies are the greatest animals next to kitties, and I hope to own one someday.
Just accepted into an Improv Troupe/Team at my University that competes all over the place and is coached and directed by Second City alums, and has put its alums into all sorts of different troupes and acting/writing jobs (My #1 dream job would be to write comedy). I will be with my troupemates for the next four years, honing my long-form craft, and (next year) traveling to tour and perform at various festivals (including one in NYC).
I'm in a programming class that starts out from very basic stuff and it's good for people like me with no real programming experience. In the homework assignments we had there were a bonus task for more experienced coders. Although I had no knowledge about Java (That's what we use) beyond "Hello World" -program I wanted to do that bonus task. After fighting it a while I finally made a program that did what it was supposed to. I feel good, and I might have learned something while doing it.

You good person, you! Yupa = Bunny hero! <3<3 Also, I found out that rabbits rarely, if ever act as rabies vector animals, so you don't have to worry about that. We found a baby bunny that was confused in the neighbor's bean patch last summer. He had gotten in and could not figure out how to get back out, so we assisted. He was so round and little! I have the wild animal rescue clinic in the area programmed into my speed dial in case something like what happened to you happens to me.

Euphoria.
Cute story mate, good job.
