I'm just confused why someone would complain that a video game on it's hardest level would be too difficult.
It's not about how difficult a game is but in what way. That and few games these days really nail difficulty, which adds a lot to replay value.
The gap between HARD and NORMAL has seemed to exponentially drift over the years.
RPG's have the best grasp of difficulty settings. Monsters just get more HP/MP, do more damage, and drop loots become less frequent. I couldn't do most games on Hard the first time through, but I can crank up the difficulty with the next character I make. Ex: Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Fallout
It's hard to make an FPS harder without "cheating." Since difficulty has little to do with AI, they tip the scales of the game in the computer's favor: reduce the duration of their statues effect while increasing yours, your bullets do less damage but they can shoot through walls, increase their accuracy/reduce the miss rate. You need to make better use of tactics with a Hard FPS and not rely on being able to soak damages. Ex: Gear of Wars, Halo, CoD
Platforms just add more shit on top of an already seizure inducing screen. I don't eat enough sugar anymore for that shit. Ex: Ikarugia, Metal Slug, Megaman, Earthworm Jim

Ikaruga is the only game I've ever played where my eyes have just completely glazed over and twitchy responses have taken control. From what I hear it is somewhat comical to watch, but hey, whatever works.
Metro 2033 is not without its problems. For starters there is only about 6 hours of gameplay. Yes, from start to finish the game is over in about 6 hours. For a $60 game that is $10 per hour.
Ah, that sucks, but my brother bought it for $25, so I'm not too bothered.

I won't call Ikaruga bullshit. However, I have the same problem with it that Fast Karate has. It's not a game of seeing things and reacting quickly and precisely to them. It's a game of memorization.
Just want to come in here with a question: Good places to play board games online, particularly Mahjong? Having the option to take turns at different times (Play by email style.) would be a plus.

I don't think so, but I have a pretty high tolerance for that. If you clear out a camp of guys they all respawn pretty soon after, the voice acting it a bit off, some people didn't like the driving, and there's a few odd bugs (like occasionally seeing your enemy spawn on the horizon when sniping), but the basic shooting mechanics usually work pretty smoothly. If you're a nerd like me and exploring the foothills of a potentially amazing design philosophy excites you, give it a look.
See, Churba feels my pain. Some of the MW1 levels depended ENTIRELY on luck and had NOTHING to do with skill on the hardest settings. The airline level, post-credits, actually says specifically in the "how to beat this fucker" level guide that it's mostly luck. If you are in close quarters with 5 veteran level enemies, and they all throw infinite grenades and head-shot you as soon as you pop your noggin out, it goes way out of the territory skill and into that of "ohwhatareyoufuckingserious?!".
Even people playing in Versus mode in LD2 can't handle the "Follow me./Stick together.", "Move quickly." and "Don't startle the witch." commands. Zombies seem to have their stuff together.
I haven't played much L4D2, but in the first one, the Survivors were just something you had to deal with in between being zombies. As such, the general idea was to finish with them as quickly as possible, either by winning overwhelmingly or by dying.
So, after spending a few hours every day playing Half Life on hard setting, I sat down to play Natural Selection again. Of course, I can't play this on the road, as I don't have internet connection, or if I do, it's via satellite, so kinda inappropriate for gaming.
And I fucking OWNED! For four games in a row, I was in the top three players on the marine side. There'll always be two or three players way ahead, with ten more kills than anyone else, but I was always the top of the next layer of players. For some reason my shotgunning-aliens-in-the-face-while-running skills have improved no end.
Erm.. you may have been playing on a server with bots. What was it's name?
Um... It was the bad clan combat server. It's the same server, with many of the same gamers, that I was playing during much if May. I know a bot server when I see one, and bots don't moan quite as much on voice chat.

Sonic and I just had a blast with the sandbox multiplayer on Burnout Paradise. If you're up late, you can still snag the $8 deal right now. It's totally worth it.

Absolutely worth it. Sail and I had a ball. Apparently, we can have up to 8 people playing on the map at once, which would make for an awesome race.

I already have it on the 360 PS3, but... fighting the urge... to... so cheap... aaaaaghfhfha.
EDIT: I need an e-mail address or Steam account. I added your Steam account to my friends, but I can't gift it that way unless you add me back I think.
Dragon Age. Graphics are lower quality than I expected from a 360 game, but the voice acting so far is superb and far outweighs the lower level graphics. Also, the options for response and the different paths the game can take are pretty spectacular so far. I'm only about 45 minutes in and I'm impressed. Funny side note: Kate talked me into getting it.

Yes, I was addicted to Dragon Age for a few months. There's a lot of great decisions down the road, and tons of fun characters. The game totally warrants at least a few playthroughs.
I'm still waiting for Awakening to drop in price. but this goes back to another problem with DLC and such, why not wait a year or so and get the "GAME OF THE YEAR" edition that comes with all the extra's DLC included...
