I'm not excited for the new Spider-Man, because the trailer makes it look like Dr. Connors himself is evil, and becomes the Lizard because he's evil, and had something to do with Peter Parker's parents. Both of those things are dumb and I don't want to see it.
Re-watched Bicentennial Man while reading the shooting script. Nicholas Kazan apprently wanted the movie to have A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TONE. In the screen play, Andrew is 100x stupider and it focuses more on political maneuvering than his actual development as a character. There are so many scenes removed or altered. "Sir" gets divorced and embittered by the mid way point.
Yes, the movie is still one of my favorites. If it was produced faithful to the screenplay, it would NOT be.
Juliane and I watched The Artist last night. We thought it was fun. It's a pity we watched Singing In The Rain a few months ago, or else we might have thought it was amazing like the hype would have us believe.
Also we both talked all the way through it. It's like watching a subtitled movie, where you don't have to shut up to understand the words, but with very few subtitles, so we could talk even more.
Saw Chronicle last night. It was pretty good but the entire time it made me think of Akira.
Chase dragged me out to see Chronicle. Cinematography was good, acting was decent, plot was fail. I can't deal with characters doing dumb shit! If they had the plot go in a more Bokurano direction it could have been amazing.
I also whispered TETSUO! to Chase right near the end. But then there was an Evangelion Lance of Longinus thrown in there as well.
Lastly, it's the year 2012. Token black guys. Seriously. WTF.
They are teenagers. Most teenagers (usually ones with angst) commonly do dumb shit without thinking of the consequences. Where is the problem here? When put in the perspective of the characters being teenagers with raging hormones, I'd argue that it is better writing than if a character (especially those who are teenagers) did everything right all the time. Otherwise, it would be really boring. However I do sympathize with your gripe on the tokenism present.
Say what you will about Mr. Token, but I did like the fact that his character being black meant nothing. You could have casted a white guy and it wouldn't have felt any different.

Max Landis wrote the screenplay.
I suspect that the first quote has a LOT to do with the second.
In preparation for the Nicolas Cage podcast both I and Li_Akahi will do soon, I watched The Sorcerer's Apprentice. Needless to say...its Nicolas Cage Does Wizard Shit.
Oh god, that movie is such trash. Awesomely entertaining trash. Also, one of the antagonists' names sounds like "whore bath," which makes me laugh every time.

Yes...yes...I am well aware...which is why it will make such good material on the podcast for both of us.
Watched 12 Angry Men last night. I had seen the show, but god damn was that movie amazing. The acting was easily some of the best I have ever seen.
12 Angry Men, Inherit the Wind, and To Kill a Mockingbird are three of my all-time favorite movies.
I watched this at the local Sci Fi marathon last night. The best part was either in the third musical number when suddenly they were in Peru, or in the finale when all the androids turned into a ball and a snake and a giant robot and stuff.

I don't think it's trash, I just think it's extremely average. It's not really good or bad, it's basically just fluff. The film does some pretty awesome world building and it is pretty consistent within it's internal logic, the CG is pretty good, and the Cage's performance is surprisingly subdued (especially considering his role).
Hugo is the best film I have seen that was released in 2011 (I still haven't seen The Artist yet), and I honestly believe that it is one of the best films of all time. Like Drive, it's one of those movies that the trailer does not actually tell you what the story is actually about. The story of Hugo himself is just a framing device for expressing the sheer magic of filmmaking in the early days of cinema. It's a movie that everyone NEEDS to see.
Reese Witherspoon keeps getting better looking. I almost wouldn't mind seeing her new spy/romace flick.
I've hard that Chris Pine and Tom Hardy have better chemistry together than either of them have with Reese Witherspoon'd character. Take that as you will.

I really, really liked Crank 2.

When it came out, our local Atheist group went to see it together followed by discussion of the film. Now, I regret not making time to join them.
