  • I'm OK with Bruce Willis just being himself in a movie. It's entertaining.

Same. John McClane gives him a lifetime pass to do that as far as I'm concerned.

  • Oldboy is fucking brilliant, but I'm sure most of you know that already.

    It's still nice to hear.

  • Watched Kentucky Fried Movie because Churba said so. Solid goofball comedy. Not much more to say, besides I don't know where I am and I do care.
  • I just watched In The Mouth of Madness tonight. It's as close to a Lovecraft movie as I've ever seen, and I think I liked it more than Prince of Darkness and even The Thing.
  • It isn't the case for Moonrise Kingdom. He plays a totally different character that is not like any Bruce Willis role you've seen before, which is mainly due to Wes Anderson's sublime direction.
Not even like The Color of Night or Moonlighting? /curious

  • Saw Dredd tonight. Felt like I was watching a very slick, sci-fi remake of The Raid, and enjoyed it about as much as I did that movie, if not a little more due to the presence of some kickass female characters. Also because of the Slo-Mo scenes, which I found beautiful in their abstraction. But then, I'm a sucker for pretty colours.
  • I would not have expected a judge dredd movie to get compared to The Raid. I might have to see that.
  • Well it's basically go into a large complex, get to top floor, tons of violence on the way. That's was my first thought when I saw a trailer for Dredd.
  • I went theatre hopping this afternoon and saw Dredd followed by Finding Nemo 3D.

Dredd was just amazing as everyone has said. I loved the scenes where people were using Slo-Mo and the psychic interrogation scene especially.

Finding Nemo benefitted so much from being in 3D. Everything about that movie just clicked in the third dimension. It really came down to the particles in the ocean and the choices made with the camera. I never realised how good the cinematography was in that movie.

IMO Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance is the best of trilogy.
  • Cabin in the Woods is pretty fun.
  • I just watched "Pitch Perfect" for the second time. Still enjoyable.
I kind of hate Glee, but I am ok with this:
  • Looper was an absolutely fantastic science fiction story and I think anyone who likes action and smartly written sci-fi should absolutely go see it. Rian Johnson is quickly becoming one of the possible great directors if this, Brick, and Brothers Bloom proves anything.

I think it might be one of my favorite films of 2012.

Just got back from Looper. I like that, all time travel and sci-fi dystopia and whatnot aside, the movie basically boiled down to: "Raise yo' kids, raise yo' kids, raise yo' goddamn kids. Raise yo' kids, raise yo' kids, raise yo' goddamn kids."

Also, this movie will probably hit a lot of people right in the childhood, especially if you feel really close to your own mom and/or dad. I know it did for me.

  • I enjoyed Looper, it's hard to talk about the film without spoiling stuff big time... hmm..
  • the psychic interrogation scene especially.
Yes so much. Definitely one of my favorite things to happen in a movie this year.
  • God I'm gonna get so many wide-eyed stares (in Internetland) for saying this.

I have just seen Ferris Bueller's Day Off for the first time. What else can I say other than its Ferris Bueller's Day Off and it was awesome.
  • I despise that movie. It's a painfully romantic depiction of sadism and has a desposition for authority that simply disturbs me. I like a good ol' "fuck da poe-lice" delinquency, but Ferris Bueller goes the extra mile to piss on the administration. I can enjoy it if interpreted that Ferris is Cameron's hallucination, but as intended I can feel nothing but hate for the protagonist and sympathy for his victims.
  • The Documentary "Love the Beast" is absolutely fucking great. If you're a gearhead, it's a must watch, and even if you're not, it's a brilliant film. It follows Eric Bana's 25 year story with his first car, a Ford Falcon V8 XB Hardtop, and the triumph of following his dream of entering it into the Targa Tasmania race... where lost the whole thing in an instant, destroying the car, and dealing with the aftermath of that accident.

It's a Documentary of a gearhead's love for his car, and with a lot of insight into Australian Mateship to boot.

I gotta say, it's got it's rough moments too - The horror, sorrow and realization you see in Eric Bana's eyes when Jay Leno basically says to him "It's your fault, completely, if you'd have put the work into the car and yourself, you'd never have destroyed it in the first place", it just ripped the goddamned heart right out of me.

    Trailer:

Thanks for the heads up, that was an awesome documentary.

I think you're taking that movie way too seriously.

    Wow.

Yeah, you need to get laid and lighten up a little.
  • All of Ferris's victims need to learn to settle down, relax, and enjoy their lives without worrying about the things they worry so much about. ;^)

    As did I.

He may have to wait awhile for proper treatment. :-)
