The AI really doesn't fit with the rest of the game currently. How I'd like to see it would be that enemies spawn out of something (Could be a block or fog or some other condition.) that you first have to go in and clear out before you get down to mining an area.
Am I the only one who prefers cave exploration to just standard mining?
It's not hard to craft. Sometimes it can be hard to find the materials, but that's what exploration is about. To know how to survive your first night, you need to know crafting basics, and there is no in-game tutorial. Go to the YouTubs for help getting through your first night.
Don't bother with that bullshit. Just turn on peaceful mode.
That won't stop the dark. And if he doesn't know how to get coal and process wood into sticks to make light, he's in for a very boring 20 minutes of night.

I don't know about you, but I can mine in the dark. It never gets completely dark, and I can still see what I'm doing.
If I'm just going to design and build an awesome castle, I'll spawn the blocks I need without actually mining them.
This is true that it is annoying having to mine the blocks. However, an artist also has to work in food service to get money to pay rent and buy paint and canvas and such.
Minecraft as a Lego game doesn't excite me at all. Minecraft as a multiplayer survival/combatgamedoes.
Dwarf Fortress isn't fun because you can make cool forts, it's the stories that emerge due to hardship and fucked up mucous monsters. Minecraft needs less lego, more death.
I think Minecraft is good in both ways, just like Dwarf Fortress almost was/is. Remember how Dwarf Fortress had adventure mode that nobody cared about? Build forts, and then explore them. Minecraft bringing multiplayer ads the excitement of having other people collaboratively build and explore simultaneously. I'm excited for all the aspects.

I disagree to a degree. It can keep its Lego-iness, but it needs more narrative. Whether it's user or Notch-generated Narrative, I don't care. One of those can't happen without decent multiplayer.
Spiders have a 1 in 100 chance of spawning with a skeleton riding them. I'm looking forward to them getting the saddle working properly (Currently you can only ride, not steer.).
Figured out part of my fullscreen issue. I downloaded the program instead of playing it in the browser, which can be made into a fullscreen easily with a little greasemonkey add-on which fixes the artifacting problem. Still no idea how to make the downloadable version go fullscreen properly yet.

You press F11. If it doesn't work, your computer is busted.
Like I said, it goes full screen, but there is a lot of artifacting (Lots of scrambled patches on the screen). I even updated to the latest catalyst drivers.

Not all constrained situations are fun for all people.

Reloaded, F11 = very strange artifacting and "noise" on the screen.
BEST WORLD EVER.
I tried to get pics, but was already endeadened.
