Um, I meant offer me the job. The pay is non-negotiable when it comes to government type jerbs. I just want the in, so I have better chances of upward mobility.
I'm in such a good spot to get promoted 2-3 grades within the year.
My references were contacted earlier today. This bodes well. VERY WELL. Now they need to hurry up and call to make an offer.
Always ask for more than what they offer.
Not that it matters now, but I regret not doing that for my first job. I was going to do so but my parents talked me out of it and I stupidly listened to them.

Best character motivation ever.
The character, after days of hard times and trouble, finally reaches their apartment and starts to boil the egg. They watch it, heart welling up with joy that their dream might finally come true. Their simple dream for the simple pleasure of a good, hardboiled egg. It is the symbol that, despite all the rottenness of the world around them, simple pleasures still exist in life. The water roars around the egg's white shell as it bobs around in the tumultuous liquid heat.
Suddenly, the apartment is filled with gunfire as bullet holes riddle the walls and doors, piercing the dwelling from the hallway outside. A bullet hits the small saucepan, knocking it to the ground, the water spilling across the floor. But the egg remains intact somehow. Not a crack on it.
As much could not be said for our character. A bullet ricochets off of the oven and pierces them straight through the heart.
As they lie there on the floor, the gunfire stops, and the character, all but dead, reaches out to the egg. The egg that is now too far to reach. They will never know.
I really need to get better about tracking the stuff I do for work. I've been working really hard lately to improve my coding skills and all sorts of crap, but I'm not sure I'm going to be able to demonstrate the value I've added during a performance review. I'm really the worst at that, and as such I make less than most of my coworkers. Boo.
Speaking of which, at BARCamp I finally learned how to do NoSQL properly. The idea is to not care about data replication. Replicate the same data everywhere. It feels stupid to update the same data in a bunch of different places, but it works. Relational databases were made in a time when disc space was so expensive that repeating a phone number even once was bad. Now who cares.

Yeah, database bloat is actually a major problem. We got into that way of thinking and now the database doubles in size every 6 months. We even put in ways to easily drop the duplicated data that's unnecessary, clients just don't use those tools even when we tell them to.
I know someone who is currently a finalist for the King of Nerds Season 2, if they happen to make it on the show it will be the second person I personally know that would appear on reality TV.
This month I will have been on this forum for 6 years. I don't think I was apart of any community for 6 years. I've known some of you longer than people I know irl.
