  • Also my Canadian hosts are now assembling a shopping list of things to "liberate" from the 48.
Be careful bringing all those guns up there.

  • You forgot many things. Follow the only road, Scott's a dick, Give 'er, Get 'er done, pop. Also I forgot one. Kinder Surprise Eggs are illegal in the states.
  • Kinder Surprise Eggs are illegal in the states.
    Not anymore (kinda).
  • Kinder Surprise Eggs are still illegal. Just Choco Treasure Eggs aren't.
  • OH SHIT, THE LAST PERSON WITH %100 OF SILLY SYMPHONIES STOPPED SEEDING! Somebody better start seeding again, or else I'll get stuck at %92.5!
  • What the fuck? Kinder surprise eggs are illegal in the U.S.? And people wonder why I say that I don't want to live there.

Food laws prevent you from putting something that is hazardous when eaten in edibles. The law makes sense, but the side effect is most unfortunate.
  • Susan Davis (from USA Today) is on NPR today talking about the news of the week... I have never heard someone so misinformed on NPR as a panelist. The host isn't even calling her out on her mistakes... WTF?

As an example she ranted about the Zimmerman defense teams use of 'Stand your ground' as the central plank in their strategy. Umm... Stand your ground was specifically and noticeably NOT used in the trial.

More specifically, it's been banned since 1938, long before Kinder Eggs were ever invented.

It's not unfortunate for the reasons you think it is. It's unfortunate because parents would be too stupid to keep their kids from eating what's inside.

  • I gotta say, Muslims know how to break a fast.
  • It would appear that tumblr is no longer a place for porn :(

    Incorrect.
  • From what I read they have made the porn impossible to 'search' for. Partly because of Apple and their puritanical app store policies.
  • Reading through the Crockford Javascript book. I've done a decent amount of Javascript programming at this point but mostly using premade stuff and usually just UI manipulation so it's been pretty easy. But holy shit I can see how this language could start to get incredibly confusing the more client side integration you do.
  • Is that Javascript: The Good Parts? That's a great book. I also recommend Javascript Web Applications and (if you really want to get into the nitty gritty) The Definitive Guide.

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll check them out.
  • So, two or three months ago a close friend had his first anniversary of sobriety from hard drugs. Now, he's getting the other two people I'm close to into the program. It feels like everyone's getting sober, and I haven't even started on my addiction.
  • Aw, don't be hard on yourself. I'm sure you're addicted to plenty of things.
  • There's always hardcore pornography!
  • The episode of intervention where the guy was addicted to hardcore porn was more disturbing than most of the serious chemical addiction stories.
  • Since when did nominations for awards garner bragging rights? I just had someone call me negative because I pointed out that nominations for awards don't mean shit and you can't compare actors based on the number of nominations they have received over their career.

Can you imagine how many baseball players would be as good or better than Babe Ruth if we just counted at bats?

The very fact that they are among the nominated few puts them above everyone who wasn't nominated in terms of bragging rights. A nomination is an acknowledgement that they are among the best.

So if you have two actors:

    Actor A: 20 nominations, 5 wins.
    Actor B: 15 nominations, 7 wins.

Which actor has more bragging rights? The one with more wins or the one with more nominations?
