Why do you eat meat?

  • I'm saying that because of your lack of onion eating, your food opinion is invalidated. It has nothing to do with Chipotle's onions.
Do we even want to go into all the things you don't eat.

There are WHOLE entire food categories you don't touch.
  • I've never even had Taco Bell, they're not at all ubiquitous with Canada. Supposedly there's one in my province somewhere but I couldn't get the Epic Meal Time guys to PM me back and tell me where it is.

    Assholes.

TacoBell Canada happen to have a site that includes a "Where's your nearest Taco Bell?" Feature.

Other than that, I know how you feel - I know it's terrible shite, but I want to go to a Denny's so fucking bad. My nearest one is roughly eleven-thousand, five hundred and change klicks away, roughly east-northeast.
  • I've been to Denny's and it's the same mediocre crap you could get in any family restaurant.

I don't actually know what the mediocre crap you get at a family restaurant is, in the US. Whenever I've been there, I've eaten at decent places, or not at all - and Standard family fare down here is usually pretty good - Roasts, steaks, seafood, the like, if you're going to a resturant, with the occasional specials, and Sizzler, which is not the greatest, but is certainly pretty good.

When it comes to hospitality, we have it pretty down pat.

Denny's is the king of hospitality; they don't serve black people.

  • Pseudo on topic: those of you in this thread who said they eat meat, would you eat a dog? How about a horse?

I tend to lean away from eating animals that are considered "pets" in our culture. Mainly because the animal has a use as a companion however, if I was in a country that customary eat those animals I might partake as to not be rude.

That really doesn't answer the question.

It's about tasting good. I don't expect a horse or dog to be yummy.

Do you know where I can get dog meat? I have a wonderful vietnamese recipe I've been meaning to try.

Yes and yes. Already have, in both cases.

Horse - Not bad if it's Raised and cooked right, you can't just eat any old nag. Dogs taste funny, but not bad.

You would be completely wrong in both cases. They're both quite good.
  • I've eaten horse, not that great compared to beef.
  • Horses don't have the luxury of decades of selective breeding for deliciousness, do they?

    Nope.
  • I bet if they did they'd be fucktastic.
  • Wait, eating horses is considered kinda ick?

Generally by people who own horses, I'd guess. Most people probably don't care so much.

I was hoping more people would answer the dog question, actually.

I have difficulty eating a species that I owned as a pet.
  • Isn't that completely irrational?

I would have trouble eating it if it was at some point my pet, but just of the same species, nah.
  • I've eaten animals that were the same species as pets I once owned and I wasn't particularly wistful about it.

People having emotions, while maybe not rational, is perfectly normal for most people (though apparently not you).

No. Humans co-evolved with domesticated animals. They've helped us in innumerable ways. One could readily argue that without domesticated hunting dogs, we'd never have made it this far.

So, it makes total sense that we also developed a sympathetic attachment to the animals we use to help us. Killing off the things that help you on a day-to-day basis is bad for survival.
    Emotions aren't useful.
    0/10. Troll harder.

That's only an explanation for why the feelings are present, you've got no argument as to why they should be there or what purpose they serve us now, which is none.

  • We know you're trolling. Why should we give reason for an argument?
  • I don't know what you mean. I wasn't aware any of us were beholden to eachother in any sense on this forum, I'd assume we wouldn't be.
