  • Scott doesn't like it when you call him Corpulent. So he said I was Decrepit, but he couldn't handle my Decryption. Great game Scott!
  • Scott you forfeiting bastard
Uh, what's wrong with quitting? If I've lost, I've lost.
Nothin really I just like 'going to completion' if you know what I mean.
  • So Scott did win by not giving you the satisfaction. :P

That was a pretty long ass game too, 37 (i think i no count so good) words played. Next longest I've had is like 20, and the shortest is 12.

Got a copy of letterpress last night and I'm playing a match against Apreche. Twice now I've made the same mistake in not pluralizing a word. If that word can be purlalized Scott will add the S on the end of the word and take your word. I'm sure this a tactic that everybody uses I just feel dumb for getting hit twice with it.

Also look out for "ed," "ing," and the dreaded "ings."
  • Thanks for the match Scott. Even though I lost I feel like I powered up on my skills a little bit. I'm playing match against InvaderRen. The board has 5 Letter G's, so Im having to bust out every word I can think of with a G in it. lol
  • Yeah these 5 G's are brutal!

    And no E, A or O!

Going to be a long battle.
  • Oh hey did anyone else notice the knock off Formula D came out for iOS? Its called Racer Feud, muscl car themed instead of formula 1, due to the threat of a lawsuit. It's free:
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/racer-feud/id522629806?mt=8

But its maybe one of the worst designed apps Ive seen fyi. Default iOS ui, no AI, no local play, no gamecenter support (lol). Well, if anyone wants to try, my name on it is reallyprettymad (same as my gc name).
  • This is bullshit. First of all, I'm no longer able to see "played words" in Letterpress even though I paid the $1 a long time ago.

Secondly, I'm trying to play the word "Thursdays" or "Thursday" against Matt, and it's not in the dictionary!

Weird I payed my buck for the game and can view played words without an issue.

  • I was surprised to see that "schlumpy" was.
  • If anyone fucking uses this against me, I will kill you.

Wow, it's Open Battle.net all over again. "How did you get 50 Stones of Jordan?!"

Hmm. I had "Uttar Pradesh," but apparently that's not acceptable. Neither is "Pradesh." Or "Xerxes." I could have sworn there were some proper nouns that could be used in Letterpress, but I don't know which ones.

EDIT: Zephyr is my favorite word.

  • I was quite surprised when "Shantytowns" was accepted. I was just playing around.
What's your single best word so far?
  • edited November 2012
Someone played "unpuzzles" at me. I'm not convinced it is a word. Also, I think I tried to play "punjabi" at one point, but that didn't work. Khan works, but KHAAAAAAAN doesn't.

Also, I just beat Ro with "Forsooth," which is an excellent word. She had played "projectors" though, which is pretty boss.

  • Feel free to challenge me people. I'm a little short on games, but I'm crushing the opponents I do have.
  • I switched from my 4S to a Lumia 920 yesterday, so much less iOS and mobile gaming in general for me. The iPad 2 has been collecting dust since my wife doesn't have a hellish commute anymore, so that's mine now and I can use it to check out whatever's hot on iOS, but kinda looking forward to less distraction by asynch gaming and solo games that I play because of convenience but wind up leaving me unfulfilled.

Agree. I have cut right back too, just sticking to the 1 or 2 games i REALLY want to try like the Super Hexagons or the Letter Presses.

Spending much more time with my backlog, such as my Micro + FF6, Advance Wars 2, Minish Cap. This is in addition to all the 3DS stuff due out soon, like VLR, Paper Mario, Bravely Default, DQ7 etc.

So yeah, giving up the sweet sweet candy for a while, in favour of full course meals.

  • TtR:Europe is out, free today, get it and let's play.
  • I got my free copy of Ticket to Ride Europe last night I'm down for a match.

Owns Ticket to Ride on Steam and maybe iPad, still hasn't learned how to play.

  • Oh man it's so good. You've gotta learn how to play.

The iPad app is probably the #1 best example of how to make a board game for a tablet. It has cross-play support between iOS and the web version, which has been around for years and has a very active community, meaning you will have zero issue hopping into a lobby and playing sweet, sweet, Ticket to Ride online multiplayer.

I recommend the Europe map, or the 1920 Mega mode for the USA map which fixes some major flaws in the base game.

It still makes me laugh that they "patched" a board game. Good shit. I grabbed my copy as soon as I realised what they did :) The 1920 expansion that is.

  • Roooo learn and play me on iOS! I love Ticket to Ride!
  • Ok. Ok. My Saturday is free. I will attempt this tomorrow. I do love playing games vs. people on the iOS.

I kinda wish that sort of thing happened more often. I could go on for days about board game expansions, the many different types, and whether they are actually a good thing for consumers.

In practice, the 1920 pack was a very cheap expansion that fixed the original game. It's much more common to see a publisher release a board game, have the public realize it's awesome except for one critical flaw that comes out after exhaustive play, and then have a full-price second edition come out.

See Sirlin Games if you want a good example of this crap. Three editions of Puzzle Strike in less than three years, all in the name of keeping the game balanced for tournament play.

  • It's really simple to pick up. Won't take you very long to learn the rules.
  • I'm sure it is. I've been wanting to learn how to play for years. I always thought about buying the actual physical game, but I always said I'll just get it on iOS and play it. Now just need to do that second part.
