TtR is a pretty terrible asynch game. Draw 2 cards... draw 2 cards... draw 2 cards... Days of Wonder actually doesn't want people playing it asynch because they think it will color their experiences with the game. They only added it for iPhone b/c of high demand, and b/c the built in asynch that iOS added in Game Center was snappy enough to play live games with.
The real solution to a game not being suitable to async play would have been to include a Doodle like scheduling system with Calendar, Alarms, Messaging, and Push notification integration.
reallyprettymad is the toughest Letterpress opponent I have faced.
I've only lost two matches so far, cause I wasnt patient and tried to grab too many white letters. I do wish this game (and a lot of other words games actually!) had some kinda penalty for submitting non-words tho. Like I Had no idea Zax was a word but theres no reason to not at least try stuff like that. Tho also I guess when everyones playing ona device that can also be a dictionary, what the hells the point of making everyone look stuff up anyway.

Yeah, ZAX is a word. It means, "A fuck stick who cheats at Letterpress."
Actually, it is a word. It's a type of tool used for cutting, holing, and dressing and placing roof slate, it's this hatchet looking sorta thing, sorta like a cross between a knife, a prybar, a pick, a hatchet and a hammer.

That's a Zax. Both it and the plural form (zaxes, for reference) are certainly in the scrabble dictionary, so I'd hardly be surprised if they were in the letterpress dictionary.
A friend, that works for Three Rings Design, pointed out this game on his various social network feed: Spellwood. Looks like it's an adventure word game. I'll have to check it out. You can play solo or battle mode vs. players via GameCenter or Facebook.
I currently cannot get it because it's over the 50MB download limit and won't have access to wifi until I get home.
I highly recommend the Storm of Souls set, and playing it by itself. So much better than the original.
I still find Ascension incredibly boring in tabletop form, but it is the king of iOS apps. Just enough crunch on every single turn to make asynchronous play shine. Also, strong enough community to get a 10min quickplay match any time.
I'll get it because it's free. I probably won't ever play it. I still need to learn Ticket to Ride. >_>
I'm also enjoying Spellwood right now.
You don't know TtR? Here is how to win.
Pick routes that overlap. Ideally you will have a large route with one or two small routes encompassed within it. Early in the game take lots of face down cards because just about any color will help you. Late in the game take the colors you need to get the links you need. Only place trains when it looks like someone else is going to block you. Otherwise, just place them as you go. If you finish all your routes, look at how many trains other people have left. If the game is going to end soon, just place the longest links you can to get more points. If the game has a lot of time left, draw new routes. More than half the time you will get lucky and draw routes that you have already completed, or are just one or two links away from being completed. Get those routes. Now you win.
I have never lost against the computer in TtR: Europe. I even deleted it because it got so boring that my strategy always won by tens of points.
I know but there are technical deficiencies between the different versions as well as bug issues. What I really meant was I thought the controls would kinda suck. There are a decent amount of QTEs
I had my eye on this game for a while, wondering if it would be any good. BGG ratings are not bad, and it surprisingly just got an iOS release. Interesting.
Is anyone playing Racer Feud (Formula D for ios basically)? I've been in the same two games for the past month or so. Not even to the first corner on either of them. People really take their damn time with this game for whatever reason.
I would gladly pay $10 for an iOS version of 7 Wonders and pay the additional cost for expansions. I played a game over the weekend to where I was Babylon (B) and I finally was able to go to the Sciences route and won the game handily with 93 points with 2nd coming in with 50-something points. It also helped with the Leaders I had.
Jeremy doesn't want to play 7 Wonders anytime soon, so I need to find my fix somewhere else and I can't.

Free is in fact, the right price.
