They're aiming completely weird with this. What kind of movie takes $400k to just make a story reel? Why kickstart a story reel? They're asking us to pay for their pitch to Hollywood, who've already rejected them, and they're asking a whole lot of money for it.
Were they producing a half-hour short, or going full bore for producing a whole movie, I'd totally be in. My kickstarter addiction and love of Goon says I'll put in $10 or so, but I have a whole lot of concern for what they're actually trying to do here.
I get where you're coming from. I'll be honest, I trust Blur a hell of a lot, but you bring up some valid concerns.
I thought Goon was already getting a movie. I remember seeing trailers and such!
It was, and none other than David Fincher was going to direct it. However unsolvable problems arose in pre-production and it caused Fincher to leave the project...after which it collasped. Glad to see it has risen from the ashes.

If by unsolvable problems, you mean complete lack of funding, yeah. It's still the same crew, same director, same everything - trust me on that one, I've got an inside line.
Kick Heart is getting close to ending and need to average $3k/day to make their goal. I hope they do.
Looks like they also upped their rewards, so that's cool. They are also going to subtitle in French, Spanish, and Rusky.
In other Kickstarter news, a lot of backers are getting annoyed/upset at the lack of either updates or haven't received the book from Fairy Quest.
I have yet to receive my book, and I know jabrams007 here has. (Look several posts above). I'm honestly patient and will give them a few more weeks. I know that to get the PDF, I had to send several emails to them to finally get it.
I guess there are some issues with the creators and the people they hired to handle the shipping and administrative side of their comic. I was recently tweeting about these problems to the creators, and one of them replied promptly. That's promising at least.
I have to say a lot of the flack they are getting from people is deserved, but at the same time backers need to be less whiny and realize that they can't expect things to be given in exactly as they originally intended. A lot of the Kickstarter projects that I've backed have been a late by a month or so. They did at least communicate more about it, vs the Fairy Quest guys.
I don't hold too much fault against Paul Jenkins, but he does seem to realize the mistake he made and will hopefully not repeat it if he puts volume 2 on Kickstarter.
I'm also concerned at the extra stuff they said they will give backers who pledged the extra $14 for the PDF version of the comic that they initially made as a reward level instead of including it in all the rewards levels for those who purchased the book. They haven't mentioned much about it, and I wonder if they will follow through. I love the comic, but if they don't follow through on what they said I find that no good.
Most Kickstarters don't deliver on time. That's one thing I can understand and not fully hold against them.
I also want to clarify that I did some research about the extra stuff about the additional pledge I made for the PDF, and I checked the updates. I will be getting something extra. I just forgot about it.
Overall, I just find a lot of people who are backing projects on Kickstarter can be impatient and they need to realize that these projects are not all professional vendors. It's amusing at best and at worst, I sometimes feel bad for the project creators for having to deal with them.
I don't understand one thing about Kickstarter. Well, about a lot of things.
If you aren't 100% sure of when you are going to be able to deliver, and you know your estimate is just an estimate, why even give a date at all? If you don't promise a time, you can't be late. Simple as that.

Agreed 100%. It's also why people like the ones who are making Starbound (the spiritual successor to Terraria) rule. They have the simple finish date of "it'll be done when it is done".
Everyone should go back The Saga of Rex. It was consistently one of the most beautiful pieces when it was serialised in Flight, and now the author is looking to make it as an animation. It's got a low goal ($15k), but it's very much stretch goal oriented, so tell your friends.
Oh mans, Kick-Heart just needs like $400 more in the next 13 minutes for an English dub to happen. I am biting my fucking finger nails you guys. It's right down to the wire.
Johnny Wander vol. 3. I never got a chance to get vol. 2, and they actually had a reward level to let me select to get it. Too bad I can't get the PDF of vol. 1 that I already own.
My uncle, a silent film historian, put together a Kickstarter for transferring a series of vintage 16mm silent films he's collected. He plans to put them to a score (he's a film accompanist too - think playing a live piano score to a film), and uploading them to YouTube/selling DVD compilations w. commentary. It's pretty fucking cool, IMHO, and it's doing pretty well for itself so far.
My gosh, Johnny Wander Bookstarter succeeded at the 9,000 goal in about 2 hours. Mad props to them. Conrad was sitting next to me today, so it made it a fun to watch it.
I got a package the other day that arrived in a tube. I thought it was felt that I ordered. Finally opened it today and saw it was the 5 giclee prints from Ukiyo-e Heroes. I thought there were going to be on regular normal paper, but the art is printed on handmade washi paper. It's high quality.
Can't wait to frame them. I'm sure it won't be cheap either.

EDIT: GOOOOAAAAAAAAAL
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/critsuccess/dice-rings
The product is cool, but all their problems with traditional dice rolling can be solved with either A) Not being an idiot, or any sort of dice tray.
Also, if you're doing something like Burning Wheel, which uses nothing but d6s (and a lot of them, too), you're basically SOL with the dice rings.
EDIT: This is also pretty interesting. He's got some good inspiration (Theme Hospital was my jam as a kid) and the aesthetic is really cool.
Also, some fans want to make a new Star Trek TV show. Except they have Walter Koenig on board.
