Isn't there a case before SCOTUS right now or recently dealing with a guy posting threats against his ex wife on FB who used the "I didn't really mean it" defense?
Thing is, this is PAX Boston. The city of cowards forces them to make every single attendee go through a bag search (at Anime Boston I was also required to submit to metal detectors several times), and there are lots of police around.
Couple that with the enforcers and acute awareness of the gomergate morons' activities/dangers, and PAX is probably one of the safest gaming events one could attend.
I know what you mean, but the language of "Submit to metal detectors" made me briefly worry the robot uprising might have come early.
There could be a real issue of journalism in game reporting ethics and we would just ignore it as gamer gate... Thanks Obama.
That's what happens when you unwittingly poison the well. However, I disagree. Just because gamergate was in swing didn't stop people from calling out the Shadows of Mordor payola bullshit.
A kid at the computer club was asking for help with some units to finish off his degree (not sure how he is going to pass with Electrical Engineering and a major in computer science but needed me to show him how to use the wifi).
I recommended the easy ass journalism units that I did last year. He asked me whether I had heard of Gamergate in a hopeful tone (assuming that I care about ethics of game journalism). I then shat on Gamergate for at least a minutes straight. He quickly changed the topic.
These guys are hilariously cowardly in real life. I was really hoping he'd put up a fight
It has to do with the Not Your Shield hashtag, I think. By saying any non-white (or female) goobergater is obviously a sockpuppet, Schaffer is denying them any opinion that doesn't support his own.
Nah, it's a little bit more complex than that. The sockpuppet thing came up more than once in his whole speech, he's playing on two ideas simultaneously. The first, that gamergate sockpuppeting is common, and the second is the whole "We're not to blame for what that other guy does" thing. The Not Your Shield joke is separate to the whole thing with the puppet.
Someone complaining about the barrier to entry being lowered, where have I heard that before? Oh yeah, every pretentious tosspot whinging about "casuals."
The complete misunderstanding about what a gender neutral bathroom was about was kind of hilarious, though.
It seems like GamerGate is actually actively attempting to murder any serious consideration of Video Games as an art form. Or at least they enjoy that that is basically what is happening because of them. And TotalBiscuit got angry when Moviebob called his audience "90% dullards who don't want games to try to be anything more than a distraction"?

Well, they broke up.
I think you mean "White Supremacist On Paper" man.
I should watch that again, because that was some hilarious insanity.
More on Cernovich.

Here's the whole thing -

In retaliation, Buscuit literally sent an angry mob after Bob. And the funniest part is that he called it "defending his audience" in a later tweet.

And moviebob acted like a twat and a bully. Total Biscuit shouldn't have sent his audience at him, but Chipman shouldn't have been acting like a dick.
