Avatar : The Last Airbender. My co-workers finally forced me into it.
Seriously. I was a skeptic at first, but the series is quite the bees knees. My boyfriend finally finished the first season and is pretty pumped for the movie.
I watched a bit of Akagi last night. I like Kaiji more, simply because I don't know anything about mahjong. I did, however, enjoy the ridiculous amount of ZAWA going on in the background music.
Anyone have any suggestions as to what I should be watching? I haven't started anything new since I finished Baccano!
Tylor is excellent. The hardest thing to do for a comedy is to interweave a dramatic storyline without forgetting that it's a comedy. Tylor does this really well; as a matter of fact, the OVA's that they released are straight-up dramatic and they still worked. Also, it has an excellent dub, Crispan Freeman's in it. However, I hate the theme song. Especially the dub theme song, which is one of the two bad things about the dub, the other being a particularly annoying kid in the OVA's. In summary, everyone watch it.
Aww, I kinda liked Inu Yasha, or at least the beginning of it before it became really repetitive. I think people are too harsh on it because of the fandom around it. I used to come home from high school and watch it with my mom, and I liked the characters.

awsome. last summer Nicktoons aired all of it in like a week and with the help of DVR I watched all of it. Except for like the first half of the first Episode.
I just picked up the last 2 seasons of DBZ so I'm gonna finish it next week on vaca.

You should totally finish Akagi if you like the crazy ZAWa ZAWA. The two rules of mahjong you need to know are 1) collect sets, 2) do not lose.

If it had been shorter, and not filled to the brim with filler, It could have been much better. That's why I dislike Inuyasha: so much wasted potential.
I thought I might check out the yuri genre (not hentai), so I just got Sasameki Koto off a torrent. The first episode really reminded me of over-the-top 70's shojo, which is good.
Watching Bleach, because it's an incredibly guilty pleasure. Watching HnK, because Kenshiro is Badass Incarnate. Waiting for money to buy some DVD sets and manga, Irresponsible Captain Tylor among them.
On my HDD, I got A Certain Magical Index and A Certain Scientific Railgun. I know, they're moe fodder but I was getting bored. I also have a few episodes of Senkou no Night Raid, Honey and Clover, some episodes of One Piece I haven't watched plus Movie 7 (the one with the ridiculous tits), Detroit Metal City and Turn A Gundam from a friend's recommendation.
Right now though, I'm enjoying Cowboy Bebop episode 3: Honky Tonk Woman.
Just finished episode 16 of Master Keaton. I was really excited about watching this show, but so far, it's only ok. One of my biggest problems with the show, and this could just be me being eccentric, but I hate that the show is mostly set in Europe, but the people still act like they're Japanese. I know, I know, it's a Japanese show made by Japanese writers, directors, and actors, but something about it really bugs me. The way some of the characters react or act on this show is so typically Japanese that it really pulls me out of the show's universe when this happens. When a European private security agent acts like a Japanese tough guy, it almost ruined the episode for me.
I wonder if this bothers other people or whether this happens when American shows portray other nationalities and vice versa. I've never actually thought about it before...

Did you get the Orange Brick box set or the ones before that one?
I think the orange one. The 16x9 one.
But I'm on vacation this week and I also got the last 2 movies I needed so my bro and I decided to just start over again and watch the whole thing along with the movies along the way between the certain episodes.
Okay, so having seen Beck and loved the whole of it, are there any music anime that are: 1. Not moe shit like K-ON! 2. Not DMC, seen it. 3. At least half as good as Beck

I've heard a lot of good things about NANA. It's shoujo though and it doesn't focus THAT much on the music side but more on the relationship side of the two lead characters, though that doesn't stop it from being very well done. The art is by Ai Yazawa who made Paradise Kiss so it's very stylish in look. It isn't moe, at all and I find the characters to be very realistic. Like I said though, it isn't 100% about the music like Beck was. I'd say it's 60% relationship issues and drama plots with 40% music.
If your into manga, then I recommend looking for a forgotten Shounen Jump gem called Bremen. While this one seems like it's all about the music, I'd say that the ratio of actual music related content is similar to NANA, but replace the relationship dramas with fighting and you got Bremen. It's only about 80 or so chapters long cause it was woefully cut short. The ending is rushed and goes into WTF? territory but the characters were very fun and I felt that it had some real heart.
Beck is pretty much the whole of it. If you've only seen the show, I recommend picking up the manga around chapter 30 for the continuation of the story line. I will warn you that there is no ending to the series and it doesn't seem likely to come since the series has been on hiatus for several years, but if you love the anime then it's completely worth it.

Have you seen Irresponsible Captain Tylor?
Edit: Come on! It's only $29.99! Buy it!

Currently I have the American release of Nana coming in from Netflix. Not sure how I feel about the voice actors just yet...

it's also a show that any musician will probably like and a good way to get musicians into anime.
