Nearly at the end of Shriobako, man that is a good series. It gives a cool, if a bit one sided, view of making anime and the problems it comes with. Really hope that it gets a second season.
Oh that's a good list of pretty much shows you should watch regardless of genres in Anime.. Though man, it's strange to consider a "Classic" to be Cowboy Bebop. SOo Old SOOOOO OLD... *sniff*
Watched the first episode of Gakkou Gurashi. Setup is moe girls living at a high school during a zombie apocalypse. The main moe girl is delusional and believes she is living an idyllic High School life. The other 3 girls play along for whatever reason. The whole episode was the delusional moe running around the school chasing after her dog. Zombie apocalypse gets like a minute and half of actual screen time. Bleh
Me and mom are starting in on research for the Ikuhara panel. Almost done with Sailor Moon R, and beginning rewatching Utena. Utena really is intended for standard definition. It masks some animation shortcuts they took. Last night I noticed that in one scene, Anthy and Utena weren't actually walking, but rather their cells were being moved up and down to simulate it.

You can notice the shortcuts in standard def as well. It's supposed to be that way.
In the Blu Ray mega remastered release from Japan, you can see cell warp and cell layering. You can even see a little bit of flaked paint and other things like that.
Finally got around to watching The Wind Rises over the weekend, thus re-establishing my position of having seen every Miyazaki feature film. It felt like a departure from his usual work in terms of story, but it was definitely still his style. I really liked it, though the ending didn't resolve as well as I hoped. Still, it got me emotionally more than pretty much any other movie from Ghibli I can think of outside of Fireflies. Probably just a result of where I am in my life right now, and it just nailed those feelings.
Next up is Princess Kaguya. That and When Marnie Was There will bring me back up to Ghibli completion.
I'm also in the middle of rewatching it. Twice, actually. Once with my friend Wynne, and once with my mom for a still developing Utena/Ikuhara general panel. I'll necro the "Ending of Utena" thread when I finish it with my comments, questions, quotes, research, etc.
Scrym, are you going to add any more episodes to the Utena series? Failing that, does anybody want to be my Utena buddy to think through episodes with?

I started watching Utena but now I have overtaken the geeknights presents episodes Any idea when you are likely to do more of these? Also I don't think you need to add so many cuts of the anime, just the conversation and the key points. Thanks and keep up the great work.

Get about 10,000 people to watch those videos and he will post more quickly.

But I don't want to watch the videos until they're all out. I've got a real Catch 22 here.

Hmm, with me and a friend that's two additional views....
The catch 22 is that if they did it for Steins;Gate or whatever is currently hot they'd probably get more views, but then the content would be less unique and valuable.
I have to admit, I hate the first IdolM@ster anime so much, but IdolM@ster: Cinderella Girls is doing everything the first show should have. Almost anyway. It's still IdolM@ster.

It's pretty damn comprehensive.

Related: Rym, where did you get that Tachikoma?

Made my opinion about The Woman Called Fujiko Mine a while ago, but I always like to listen to the intro now and then. It's so good.
