I am super torn about Magi, because, on the one hand, 1001 Nights is my jam beyond jams. On the other hand, that promo image inspires the opposite of confidence.
I think it would be better to ere on the side of your conscience, because, especially with anime, if something sounds too good to be true; it probably is.
I don't know if anyone else feels the same way I do, but I am absolutely floored that somebody somewhere thought it was a good idea to make another Stage for Initial D, which is already a franchise which has been milked dry. I wonder how it can possibly succeed in this anime climate and what new audience will go for it (other than the Redline crowd or the very, very few who never got Initial D out of their system).
Why don't we list what shows/movies/oavs look interesting to us and why we want to see them? That way we can compare and contrast our expectations with our actual opinion once it get released.
Honestly, I don't see much there that seen interesting. From looking at the pictures only and reading the names (Too lazy to read the descriptions) I only got these ones:
•Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: The Animation: Well, I have only play the old games, and read a bit about what is about, and it does seen really crazy, so I am giving it a try.
•Shin Sekai Yori: This one looks gorgeous, and I have liked other anime done by that studio, so I will most definitely give this one a try.
•The world that god only knows (OAD): What can I say? I am a sucker for anime with good music, and the original anime soundtrack was really good. Also I am a sucker for drama and the original had enough drama to satisfy me. See where I am going with this...
•Mass Effect: Paragon Lost : Come on, they made an anime about the game, and I am sure it will be really bad, so I must watch, heh.
Umm... that is about it. It doesn't look like that one will be a good season for me neither.
I'm not sure whether I should be happy or angry at you for planting your ass in my throne. I will give you the benefit of the doubt and observe when Winter 2012 rolls in. Two problems, 1) wrong thread. There's a thread for discussing upcoming anime seasons (and first impression I guess) and then there's this thread where you should be discussing anime you're watching, 2) no mention of Hidamari Sketch, what the hell dude it's the (art) school part of Madoka before Madoka existed! On that note, WHY THE FUCK IS THERE ONLY ONE EPISODE OF MOYASHIMON EVERY WEEK. WHAT THE FUCK JAPAN, GIMME MORE ALREADY!

With the exception of Madoka, I don't like anything else that Shinbo has ever been involved in. As such, I stay away from it. However, I don't think Madokas' success was based on Shinbo's direction; it was entirely Gen Urobichi that made Madoka the amazing thing that it was.
EDIT: As an aside, I'm watching Chi's Sweet Home and love every second of it. I've had to go through several mason jars because I keep melting into a puddle as I continue watching it. I wonder if a show about bunnies that was in the same vein as Chi would be good? I know Gomidog and I would be all over that show.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA, oh lawd you fool. Betting on SHAFT x Shinbo is marginally more secure than betting on Gen Urobichi, unless you loved Blassreiter and Requiem for the Phantom. Madoka doesn't in itself do much new (The Nanoha series comes to mind), it's awesome because of the mix of ingredients, not just the writing. SHAFT x Shinbo's (art) direction is just as important in the mix. Without either the series would be a lot less interesting and worse. And I guess the joke was too wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide for you to get.

Maybe I can agree on that point. Also, for the record, I hate both of those series, however I would argue that Ichiro Itano was primarily responsible for the failure of Blassreiter. But it was also a Gonzo series, so maybe it was doomed to failure before the first episode even aired.

It was doomed from the start indeed, but not because of Gonzo, they just supplied the cement for the shoes, the premise and writing was on par with the atrocious animation.
Also, I predict that Steins;Gate > Robotics;Notes. It won't be Chaos;Head, don't worry. Noitamina as a label nowadays (imho) only ensures that it's not going to be a long shounen fighting show. The timeslot contained one too many mediocre/crappy shows if you ask me.

Now when you say that, are you speaking of noitaminA itself? If so, what shows do you believe were bad? In my opinion, I thought Guilty Crown (coughcodegeasscarboncopycough), Black Rock Shooter, Un-Go, and Fractale were the most mediocre/bad of the block. They're bad because they don't fit the noitaminA type. noitaminA by it's nature was made so there could be shows that weren't total otaku bait or harem shows; shows with actual creativity and thought put into them.

Those shows are good examples. I would put Eden of the East, [C] and Ano Hana in that list as well. The timeslot doesn't try to host good or amazing shows, it tries to host quirky/unusual shows aimed at audiences other than young males (i.e. no long shounen fighting shows). At first this was mainly female audiences (Paradise Kiss, Honey & Clover, Nodame Cantabile) and college-aged+ audiences (Honey & Clover, Mononoke, Moyashimon). They kept at that for a while, then tried to broaden the audiences to include both the older audiences and the younger ones (Fractale) and made a big chaotic mess of mediocrity. A truly bad show has yet to roll out of the timeslot, but it shouldn't be a reason for watching a show, checking out at best, but that goes for a lot of shows these days. To me it feels that quality's been improving on average, but I've become more lenient and carefree about what I watch and I still miss a bunch of supposedly good stuff.

That's wrong. The timeslot was initially intended to broadcast shows with target audiences beyond young males, not exclude young males from the target audience. BRS and Guilty Crown tried to cash in a bit on the Vocaloid celebrities front, which isn't that bad, but Supercell already did better on Bakemonogatari.
WHY DO THEY USE SO MANY SEMICOLONS IN THEIR TITLES.
Chaos;Head, Steins;Gate and Robotics;Notes are part of a "Science Adventure" series of visual novels from one company, that also got animated. I cannot explain the abundant use of colons though. They're everywhere all the time I think, with no apparent, coherent or overarching reason as to why they are used.
with the exception of gross Akagi
I JUST NOTICED THIS. WHAT IS THIS FUCKING BLASPHEMY? ARE YOU A FUCKING LUNATIC OR JUST SUCKING UP TO SCRYM'S BULLSHIT OPINION ON ONE EPISODE OF THIS SHOW?
@Nine: I've actually seen Akagi and I could only make it through 5 episodes. I'm not a proponent of the stupid people who say "Oh that show looks old/ugly, I'm not gonna watch it". But Akagi totally hurt my eyes and it was difficult to maintain me getting into it. Also, a show about something as uninteresting as Mahjong doesn't help it either.
I can't really criticize Geo on the visual point. Let's face it, the only reason I won't read a manga these days is because of art that doesn't agree with me. I could say any other indication of poor quality manga, but let's face it, I just read insane fucking garbage.
