"Metal" is the best thread title here.

  • The Surfin' Bird cover is totally legit. There's a reason they did it, and it is shameful that you don't know.
I'm not sure what that has to do with it being terrible.
M-16 is a concept album about the Vietnam War. Surfin' Bird was used in the "Interview" scene in Full Metal Jacket.

Also, Curl of the Burl FTW.

  • It always makes my day to see this thread active. Really digging Slough Feg, WuB; hadn't heard of them.

I knew both of those things, but I did not draw that connection. That still doesn't stop it from being a terrible cover.

They're so fucking awesome. They have an entire concept album based on the pen-and-paper RPG Traveller. Doesn't stop them from melting fucking faces. Atavism is probably their best effort, but all their albums are phenomenal. Their old stuff is under the artist name of "The Lord Weird Slough Feg."

And yeah, if you caught that reference, they are indeed named after a Sláine villain from 2000AD-- the same British comics mag that gave us Judge Dredd. They're made of metal, geek, and win.

    @Pete: Yeah, doesn't mean it's not fun.

Better keep posting stuff, since all this stuff could be gone off YouTube soon if SOPA passes!

  • Hammered dulcimer? In my black metal? It's more likely than you think.

Also, Chinese metal is way better than Japanese metal. Here, have some Chinese suicidal black metal:

It's even got a bit of shoegaze to it, for you shoegaze-loving nerds.

It doesn't get much blacker than Black Speech Metal, written in the unholy and profane tongue of Mordor.

  • Oh yeah, I found out the girl from that "my first metal" or whatever it was video is from my city. Was on the midday news.

  • New Tenacious D album.
    'Bout friggin time!
  • You think you know fucking metal? My city was hog butcher for the world for a fucking century. That's why this thread needs more fucking Pelican.

  • New Earth album is out. Pay homage to the gods of drone-doom.

  • Dat cover art.
  • Dat cover art.
  • I appreciate how Earth has evolvedmy heir sound so much from where they started, but over the course of their last three records, they've become a bit samey to me.
  • I still think Pentastar: In the Style of Demons is my favorite Earth album. I really like the post-doom folk drone thing they've been doing lately, but I can agree with you on the last three albums sounding pretty similar.
  • Oh my word.
  • Okay guys, who wants to be in on the ground floor of some trolling/stupid bullshit?

My friends and I have resurrected a high-school idea of mine; CHRIStFUCK, the worst metal band in the universe. With terrible production values, uncontrollable distortion, incomprehensible lyrics, awful mixing, and horrifying MS Paint album art, our aim is to make CHRIStFUCK the Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff of music.

The first song, Writhing Claw of the Fuckspawn, from the reunion album, Raging Bloodstorm, is up now. We plan to upload the other songs of the album over the coming week-and-a-bit.

WARNING - LISTEN AT YOUR OWN RISK

This is literately the most terrible thing we could make. It is actually unbearable. However, comments of literately any type on the video itself would be appreciated, as it would get other people commenting too.

  • Reminds me a bit of Throbbing Gristle and Skinny Puppy. Not bad, 7/10. Would probably listen again.
  • Real talk, you should post that on /mu/, saying everyone should check out this cool, avant-garde metal band you just found.
