  • The Ghibli Museum. They have not one, but TWO catbus rooms! One for kids to play on and in that's about 4' x 6' x 15' and one that's room sized for people who want to ride the catbus. And the movie, Chuuzumou, was great.

    Catbus!

  • Real life simulated F-Zero starts at 00:50ish. But is this even a "driving" game any more?
  • Sonic Rainboom.

    It's not a game, it's a race.

  • Ghibli Museum is the best!
  • It's way up there on my top tier favorites from things I've done this trip.

  • I can't say I agree with it, but damned if I don't want to watch it.
  • The Ubuntu Netboot CD is super awesome. It takes just 23MB of space and, when coupled with a decent broardband connection, can install any flavour of Ubuntu with the very latest packages, meaning you don't have to install and then update.

It looks like Falling Down redone. With more guns. Hopefully, it has some kind of point to it.

  • The comments are pretty good as well.
  • This status update from a friend is the thing of my day:
This is kind of a derpy thing to share with Facebook, but replaying ME1 made me think about how much more I bond with video games as a storytelling medium than I do with movies or books. Sure I have a cat named Lando, but the revelation that Lando Calrissian had sold out Han Solo never had as much power as the moment when I realized the Padawan was Revan, or Sheik was Zelda, or - yes - even that lame ol' Cloud was pretending he was lame ol' Zack. I don't remember how I reacted when Ned Stark was beheaded, but I still remember facepalming with both hands when I realized *I* was the one spreading the plague in Neverwinter Nights, and tonight I found myself grinning when I recalled how rapt I had once been while Vigil told the tale of the Prothean extinction in Mass Effect.

There are a lot of really stupid, pointlessly violent, and irredeemable video games out there. But man, there are a lot of really fantastic ones, and when I'm completely honest with myself, the redemption of Bastila Shan in KOTOR was every bit as moving and satisfying as the redemption of Darth Vader in ROTJ.

I am unimpressed. Let's see them do that without the super expensive Vicon system.

  • Happy 9th anniversary of the Columbia disaster, friends!

    Now: Cry.

  • I saw the trailer for this, and thought "Aw yeah, just another trailer for a film that will never be." Just like all those Half-life 2 movies that have really awesome trailers, or short movies that promise sequels and continuations, none of which ever never appear.

Nope! They've just released the first episode of HALO ODST: Helljumpers, and it's pretty fucking sweet.

  • The real cost of being a gamer is the cost in children's lives. I can't count the number of babies I've had to sacrifice to Baal to allow me to get on the high score board on WoW.
