Tarloc has way more going on than meets the eye. Involvement with Aang? Did Aang bloodbend him/someone else? He's connected to Amon, isn't he? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Yakone from the courtroom flashbacks bears a lot of resemblance to Tarrlok, and in the most recent flashblack he seems to be using bloodbending on Toph and Aang, so maybe there's some relation?
Also, I'm excited to get out of Republic City. I wanna see what the rest of the world has become.
Awesome episode. This has been sort of in line with the first series, but the heroes never seem to catch a break against the main antagonists most of the time. The antagonists are always a step ahead, and never fail to be menacing.
Also this marks the second time a high tiered ability, like energy bending, was used withought meeting a so called condition. It is quite possible Tarloc and Amon are related at least thematically.
Great episode. I'm really digging the series so far, I think it could keep up with the original series at this rate. I am kind of annoyed at two things though.
-The Romance Stuff is moving far too fast, and I don't like the conflicting issues with it. Don't want a Korra/Mako/Asami fighting triangle. -Why don't those other 3 members of the council say or do anything? Lame.
So, I had a theory of Amon, but I'm curious where it'll go into considering what happened in Episode 8.
I figured Amon could be a bloodbender, where maybe he can scientifically disable one's bending, but bloodbending a certain part of the brain to just, cease functioning. Probably a long stretch since it would be too lethal, but I'm guessing it's possible. And maybe Amon and Tarloc could be the same person in this case, since Bloodbending will still exist. After all, Lightning and Metalbending which were considered pinnacles of bending, are being freely used by specialists.
Watching the liberal lightning and metalbending use..certainly made me feel that many forms of bending have just been...figured out. Like how new technologies always gets deconstructed sooner or later. Probably the only thing left with true mystique is the Avatar itself. Of course, i don't see any of the traditional styles so far, which again removes much of the traditional mysticism to an extent.
Am I the only one who thought Korra should have tried to team up with Amon? Admittedly, I've found him a morally ambiguous character from the start, but in this episode made him clearly justified. They can have a power struggle over Republic City later once the current nazi government is down. Neither one of them could take down Tarrlock, but together they might.
But then, if this episode proved anything, it's that Korra's no MacArthur. When she was fighting Tarrlock she should have brought up the wall of earth-bending as soon as she stopped fire-bending. She also threw away a fantastic hostage situation with him when he was grasping on the ledge. At the very least, before he started blood bending her, she should have earth-bent restraints onto his feet.
Also, I loved how Tahno made a cameo in the "riot" scene.

If I state that one person's unreasonable bigoted dickery is not justified because someone else in the world is an unreasonable bigoted dick, are we going to have to have a forum argument about that?
What Korra really needs to do is learn to use the mass media the same way Tarrlok is. I feel like the public disapproval of Tarrlok's actions (or possibly the threat thereof) is a much better motivator for him than just threatening him.

It's an economy of scale. I have started at least two forum arguments calling everyone involved assholes for being yellow-dog Democrats (admittedly, were a yellow dog to run in an election, he would have my support regardless of party), but then no one in those contexts were trying to take away minority rights.
Tarrlok's new programs are using Mcarthy logic to justify policies similar to those enacted on Prussian Jews (not Godwins-ing, I'm better than that). My opinions might differ depending on the election schedule (if it's already campaign season, I would wait to see what the people say), but assuming this is the beginning or middle of the term, I wouldn't trust him with so much time.
Just finished the latest episode. Did anyone else think that adult Aang didn't look like him at all?
Well considering they changed the way they draw people he's not going to. The characters in Korra are drawn with a much more realistic touch. All the kids in last airbender had a more cartoony flare to them.

Also, I think there would be more than one time where zipperbending would have come in handy. ;D
