I think Bolin has the friend-zone deal. He fits with Korra really well emotionally, but I don't think she finds him hot in the same way she finds Mako hot. Pity, really. Mako is kind of boring right now. He's like Zuko without all the frustration and antagonism and confused feelings, so basically, not much going on there.
I don't think Bolin and Korra would work well as a couple. They fit each other too well. They wouldn't have an emotional anchor.
What does that even mean? Fit each other too well? How do you fit TOO well? What is an "emotional anchor?"
Everyone has strengths and flaws. Ideally, one's SO's strengths will balance out their flaws in a way that they find very pleasing while their own strengths will balance out the other's flaws. When I say emotional anchor, I mean that they both seem a little too goofy. When serious shit happened, I'm not sure if either of them could face it.

I will give you a pass on this one because you do not know me, or most of my friends, personally. But we have many couples who are both extremely goofy and also very well-equipped to deal with srs life bzns when necessary.
Korra and Bolin both have some growing up to do, but they're both shaping up to be very capable of action when necessary. They have demonstrated their ability to do what's needed NOW at various times. Bolin was pretty badass when he kicked his bro out of the tiebreaker. He also kept his head pretty well at the secret revelation thing... I mean, as much as you can be when you're alone in that situation! Korra is impulsive, but still takes her responsibilities as Avatar seriously.
tl;dr - Just because I like to splash in puddles after it rains doesn't mean I cannot also cope productively with a crisis.
I would refute you, but I was close to slouching onto my keyboard and sleeping until Monday anyway, so instead, here's this:
The Government of the Gregorian Account and The Gomidog Account desirous of strengthening the cause of peace between them have reached the following Agreement: Article I. Both High Contracting Parties obligate themselves to desist from any act of violence, any aggressive action, and any attack on each other, either individually or jointly with other Powers.
Article II. Should one of the High Contracting Parties become the object of belligerent action by a third Power, the other High Contracting Party shall in no manner lend its support to this third Power.
Article III. The Governments of the two High Contracting Parties shall in the future maintain continual contact with one another for the purpose of consultation in order to exchange information on problems affecting their common interests.
Article IV. Should disputes or conflicts arise between the High Contracting Parties shall participate in any grouping of Powers whatsoever that is directly or indirectly aimed at the other party.
Article V. Should disputes or conflicts arise between the High Contracting Parties over problems of one kind or another, both parties shall settle these disputes or conflicts exclusively through friendly exchange of opinion or, if necessary, through the establishment of arbitration commissions.
Article VI. The present Treaty is concluded for a period of ten years, with the proviso that, in so far as one of the High Contracting Parties does not advance it one year prior to the expiration of this period, the validity of this Treaty shall automatically be extended for another five years.
Article VII. The present treaty shall be ratified within the shortest possible time. The ratifications shall be exchanged in Random Comments thread. The Agreement shall enter into force as soon as it is signed. Avatar The Last Airbender thread, May Eleventh, 2012.
The water bender in the beginning of the show is clearly Korra. Have we identified who the other benders are? I assume the air bender is Tenzin.
It has to be Aang and not Tenzin. If you notice in the opening sequence they use Avatar Kiyoshi and Avatar Roku for the respective elements. Because it looks like they use Korra for water, I think it would be safe to assume they used adult Aang to represent air.
Yep - instead of the opening being the world's respective masters, it's the previous Avatar of each element - Kyoshi, Roku, Aang, Korra. Edit - ninja'd
And I have to say, the scenes with Lin were incredible - the choreography with the fighting between the arena and airship, wires swinging everywhere was definitely a sight to see. I almost thought we might see Avatar state Korra when the Equalists came out in force... considering how different she is from Aang, that is going to be a rampage when she loses it.
I have to say this episode reminded me of the The Blind Bandit episode where you see the Earthbending matches. I love how they went all out with the pro-bending final spectacle. Costumes, Pabu being adorbz, and the crowd losing its shit. It's high quality.
Also the water bending uppercut. I love how they went into slow motion to repeat the sequence.
I predict Chief Bei Fong getting either suspended or in trouble because in that council meeting, Tarlok emphasized that she would be taking full responsibility of the safety of people at the game.
Also Bolin: "(to watch benders) Beat each other up! In peace! It's an inspiration to everyone!" and the announced guy saying, "I'm currently wetting my pants" had me dying with laughter.

It was definitely a great scene, but I kept thinking CRUSH THE DAMN SHIP! WHY AREN'T YOU AS BADASS AS YOUR MOM?!

Me too. I think the creators are doing that intentionally, to generate more tension and suspense. Also, RAMPAGE!

That being said, they did use Azula as the fire-bender for seasons 2 and 3 of the first show.
I don't think we'll see the Avatar state for a while, seeing as Korra has yet to even communicate with her previous lives. Aang had to learn to in order to get guidance, since there was no one who could tell him about Avatar stuff.
Although I'm a bit surprised Tenzin hasn't told her to talk to Aang about the bender bending, but I'm guessing they are saving that for a big reveal later considering the flashbacks we keep seeing of adult Aang.
I feel the same way. I think that's going to be one of Korra's biggest challenge along with air bending. You notice in the most recent episode she tries to get to the roof with the use of water bending, but came up short. She probably could have used air bending to help her get that last bit of distance up there, but then again she didn't have a glider. Also, it was probably done to show us how Chief Bei Fong is helping.
As for the flash backs, we see some guy with a beard that looks sinister and angry at Aang and perhaps Aang did something to him. I think it looks like he's removing his bending, but that's just speculation.
That fight sequence on the roof was great. This was my reaction to it:
Stuff has been moving along very quickly. So, about Asami:
Is she going to be like the new hot Zuko, with her "I got disowned by my dad" thing? I really liked how she said "I love you dad" before she zapped him. I'm glad she isn't evil for the moment. It's also going to be interesting, them all living under the same roof as each other on the island.
Also, the animation was kinda sub-par this past episode. The characters went off-model way too often. I think they blew lots of the budget last episode, and now they are recouping costs. Backgrounds are interesting in this show. They are almost impressionistic, like speed paintings. Definitely a departure from the style of the previous show.

As mysterious, brooding, and dreamy (basically Karl Urban)-like on how they made Mako, Bolin would be the dude I'd prefer.

Also, that is awesome.

Also, what a fantastic episode!
