  • Also how shitty these new benders are. Katara could have kicked all of their asses in around ten seconds flat with a giant water-octopus or something similar.

I can understand to an extent on fire benders. Technology is getting to a point where they can theoretically start to protect themselves against fire, lightning, and ice to an extent. I agree with you though, benders are slacking off.
  • Aang's companions, take in mind, were some of the most talented benders of their time, with Toph easily considered the best earth-bender in the first series' time frame. Mako and Boelin, while "pro-benders" are not up the the level war/disabilities pushed Aang's companions.

Nick has dicks in charge of their website. They post a link on Facebook to watch the video but if you use a mobile browser you get sent to the mobile site and told the content is not available. Even if I request the desktop site (ICS) it gives me the mobile.

  • I don't get it

loving it so far, especially that the issues at hand are more socially complex than the last avatar. i'd enjoy not a love interest, but *eh*.
I think Amon is the grand/son of Ozai, and absorbed/learned the suppression that Aang used. Tai Li has to be involved here somewhere too.

  • Tai Li is involved in the sense that she taught chi blocking to the Kyoshi warriors.

ok, to phrase it more exactly:
Maybe the fact that it was a Taili technique is significant in more ways than that.
    Happy?
  • I don't think Amon has a connection to Ozai. But we are only 3 episodes in. As for Tai li, the ability to neutralize a bender is ideal for a group that hates benders. Maybe we will get some more information later in season?
  • Man, the lighting in that last scene of episode 4 got me geeking out so hard.
  • Catching up with all y'all. Where/when can I get a Fire Ferrets jersey?
  • I wonder if her spiritual side is in such a disarray that Korra is unable to talk to her past selves, like Aang.

I need to know as well!
  • It was strange seeing Aang as an adult.

He becomes a freaking handsome bloke at that too. ^_~
  • I haven't seen the episode yet, but I heard there is an FLCL reference.
  • I couldn't tell if that was on purpose, or if things just sort of worked out that way in the writing session.

What was the FLCL reference? I didn't notice anything like that.

It's well-documented that the creators are fans and made the whole office watch it while making The Last Airbender.
  • Tarlok = Amon ???

Their voices sound similar and what better way for Tarlok to gain power than to create a threat, then be appointed the head of a task force to stop him? Or conversely, what better way for Amon to subvert Republic City than to be one of the people in charge of it?

I don't think they are the same person. It seems too easy. I think if anything, Tarlok could be involved with Amon or just a power hungry official.

Does it have to do with the moped? I've only seen 2 episodes of FLCL, so I really can't tell.

  • I feel like the "mysterious benefactor" that helped fund the car company is Amon.
  • Does it have to do with the moped? I've only seen 2 episodes of FLCL, so I really can't tell.
Yes. Also, finish that. It's only 6 episodes long, so you don't have much of an excuse.

Sure I do. I just don't feel like it. I have things I consider more valuable for my time vs watching that show.

After you finally watch the show you'll probably feel differently, but that is the ultimate in Catch-22s.
  • I watch FLCL about twice a year. Really, there are few things I'd rather be doing than watching FLCL.
  • You say a lot of things go in the hopper. Where is the magical "hopper" and is there something else in there that is keeping these from happening?
Not to seem trite, but the answer is "a busy and fulfilling life." ;^)

My calendar is literally almost completely booked, every single day, for the next month and a half, with crazy shit. Two shows a week, Burning Wheel games, Board Game Nights (our own and NerdNYC's), traveling to Turkey, the Five Borough Bike Tour, Zenkaikon, recently MoCCA, biking, bouldering, playing NS2 and CounterStrike, watching Korra and (recently) the Venture Brothers archives, recording/planning/editing RFE, writing panels for upcoming conventions, planning a death march through the Adirondacks, actually going on said death march for a weekend, cooking, rabbits, chores, two games I'm designing/writing/working on, playing with Unity (to eventually make a third game), interviews, and occasionally sleeping.

    I also have a job.

Youth means infinite time and no money. Adulthood means (for the lucky) infinite money and no time. I literally have to drop something (like going to a concert) to add something (like going hiking). Anything, any media in the world, that I choose to consume, comes with a substantial opportunity cost.

My hopper is growing faster than any human could empty it. As such, it is a rare thing that ever rises above something else.
    What Rym said.
  • It's six episodes, and you've already watched two of them. If you can't find 2 non-consecutive hours, you might have bigger problems.

If you can't understand or grasp the concept that people have different lives, you might have bigger problems. I'm going to pretty much ignore you for now. Conversing with you is a waste of my time.

    Anyways, back to topic:
It's well-documented that the creators are fans and made the whole office watch it while making The Last Airbender.
I've recently been going through the artbook of the first series and there is a caption underneath an image of Aang in the avatar state saying, "Aang's glowing eyes were influence by Naota in the final episode of FLCL, one of our favorite anime series".

Thought you might get a kick out of that, Sail.

Also in the book they had some concept art of Naga since the first season.

    image

Caption: Aang, Momo-3, and the unnamed polar bear-dog. Unfortunately, the latter never made it into the show, but we always really liked him and have a feeling he'll turn up somewhere..."
