Infinity, I need you to wrap it up now-ish. If you've got a (good) reason you can't finish in the next 24 hours, that's fine, but let us know. Otherwise, we need to move on. But as you've already given us some of your year, I have no doubt you'll finish on time.
I'm sorry, I was planning on finishing it today, but I didn't get much sleep last night and I've got a nasty headache. Thank you all for putting up with me being a bit slow.
I'll try my best to finish it, but otherwise, I'll give the reigns to The wired, and I'll put up some points of interest.
1056, Year of the Kobold, Part II 27th Sandstone, Autumn A kobold attacks after a long while of no ambushes. Luckily, no one was hurt, and in discovering the door used by the kobold, I will be able to secure the fortress. A short while later, Sir Fikod decides to make a craft... he's a cook. Oh boy, a wishbone statue! A crappy, tiny whistle! A instrument made out of noodles! I should just give up now. And it's a... gold ring. Well, whatever.
2nd Timber, Late Autumn I begin construction of my jail, and I work on making the fortress nicer; stone smoothing and engraving will surely give me a fortress to be proud of, and dwarf-citizens will love all the coffers and cabinets I'm giving them. Look, even the narrator admits my prowess in everything engraving! I have made my mark on history.
4th Obsidian Well, my term is nearly complete. I have become a natural leader of the fortress; I command the respect of everyone around me. The jail is mostly complete, though the next ruler must make high-value rooms for a sheriff. The refuse pile I planned, with a grated exit for miasma, seemed to fail. Farming went suprisingly well due to lots of potash for fertilization. War dogs are now chained to each exit, while two are unchained and ready for conflict. No more kobolds have appeared recently, which is good news. Food is plentiful, and dwarves are happy. My work is done.
Okay, I've got a lot of notes for the next leader on where stuff is, what I was doing, etc.
Infinity, have you sent your save to Scott? If so, he may be too poorly with the plague to upload it. If that is the case, please upload a temporary copy to rapidshare or a similar service.
Problem: the save in year5.zip is of the previous year, at the end of am_dragon's turn. Infinity, please check and confirm that you've sent the correct save to Scott.
Just to make sure, we'll be using the latest version at all times, right? Perhaps we should add which version is being used for a specific year for saves supposedly go crazy when used in an older version, right?
PLEASE NOTE: Saves from v0.27.169.32a+ are compatible.
My problem is that newer versions of the game put stuff in the save files (afaik) which might not be implemented in the older versions of the game. Or am I completely wrong and it doesn't matter at all?
Can saves made with an old version get screwed up when used with a new version? Maybe it is safest to use the version we started with the entire time.
I thought they could the other way around, saves made with a new version getting screwed up when used with an older version.
Everyone else: I'll assume that for the next "chapter", unless otherwise specified, you all want to have another shot at immortality. If not, please let me know.

I entered a child's thoughts and it said it needed alcohol to get trough the working day. XD
It's either a glitch of bad parenting.

OK, everyone should be using the latest version during their turn, that way there's no chance of save incompatibility.
PS: Dwarf Fortress has recieved a mention on Kotaku!
EDIT: 6th of Slate, current state. 7 dead dwarves, 25 left.
(Large/huge report at the end of the 'year' of course.)
