  • Japanese RPGs are pretty linear and story heavy. I can't imagine there being many interactive elements for directors to not get.

That said, not a huge amount of confidence. On the upside, if you take out grinding, you end up with just a story and characters.
  • There are tons of anime based of games that turned out good. (I'm not any more confident Persona 4 anime will be good than any of you are, but that the plot started as a video game isn't a determining factor in this)
  • Have you guys seen the previews for it? The animation style is looking pretty sharp, IMO.
  • The guy who directed Seto No Hanayome and Angel Beats is doing P4. The guy perfected the art of Rawket Launchair and Shark Suplexing in anime so if anyone has a chance of making this work, it'll be him.

He also directed Astro Fighter Sunred. So now I know who I need to turn to to get good comedy.

  • You can watch Persona 4 on Hulu (assuming you can watch Hulu in the first place).

I loved the game so I started watching it but got bored since it's simply a prettied up version of the in-game video.

It is straight up just the game. I doubt they'll stray at all from the source material. The only real draw for people who have played the game, as far as I can tell, is the battle scenes. The way they handled Shadow Yosuke was pretty cool, and I'm looking forward to seeing the other boss fights. I guess this is a good alternative to people who don't want to play an 80+ hour RPG but are willing to watch a (presumably) 26 episode anime.

New season starting, but nothing much that interests me. Nisemonogatari is the only thing I've spotted.

  • Gundam SEED HD Remaster? Yeah, I'm watchin' that.

Daily Lives of High School Boys? Azumanga Dude-oh?
  • It’s that a remake of the TV show of Berserk? Will that signal a revival of this show? Hopefully there will be a bit more closure this time around. :P

I will most surely watch that one. :D

    <--- Berserk Fan :D
  • Honestly, the only thing that actually appeals to me is Area no Kishi. I've been reading the manga, and it's pretty good. It's Captain Tsubasa with a more realistic story and a football-playing girl.

You got me at Captain Tsubasa.
    Super Campeones FTW!

  • Damn right, Erwin. Football heads unite! :D

(I'm one of the craziest fans out there. I even had my own forum, but I quit)

    Man, that anime was epic!
I think it was the very first anime I ever watch that I knew that it came from Japan, mostly because in the first episode one can see Mount Fuji. Also, I take the classic version over the remakes any day.

I think this guy is doing a decent release of the classic series in english remastered in case anyone out there wants to see the original football sports anime.

  • Of course, the classic 80's series is #1, but Captain Tsubasa J was actually pretty decent. A shame it was cut off midway, but I would've liked to see Football head, er Tsubasa's marriage in anime form.

Yeah, It is still pretty popular everywhere else except USA (just like Saint Seiya). One can only hope that a future remake a la Kai would occur in the future. I also like Captain Tsubasa J. I do really think that Road to 2002 deserved a better ending (also Captain Tsubasa anime on World Cup season would be a good idea but it is hard execute).
Now I wanna go watch this during my vacation, or at least the first season :D
  • The general consensus on ROAD is that it sucks. Big time. The only thing I liked was the soundtrack and some of the voices (in Jap and Spanish). I just hope that if there'ss a new CT remake, they do things right instead of turning a somewhat decent story into a bloody mess.

    AND NO FAKE FINALES, PLEASE!

    That is right!
This series needs the proper ending it deserves.
  • There's a catch, Erwin: That bozo Takahashi hasn't given the series the ending it deserves. Hell, there are so many loopholes and loose ends right now, it's a mess. We're still waiting to know whether Tsubasa and Sanae's baby is born or not!

One can only dream dude, in the mean time I have the good memories of the past.
Coming from home, watch "Super Campeones", go out with my friends and play football for at least 2 hours and come back to do easy homework, good times ! :D

  • I was reading over the site that puts out those viewing guides, and found out about Asa Made Jugyou Chu!, which is going on my terrible manga reading list, simply because it has an irreistably bad and ludicrous synopsis -
"Kagami Yuuki has managed to become a scholarship student in a high-class high school. Unfortunately, thanks to his gender-ambiguous name, the teacher Kakinozaki Ayana has registered him as a girl! It’s apparently an uncorrectable mistake, so now Yuuki must live in the girl’s dormitory of his new (co-ed) high school."

Ticking the right boxes on your School forms - SRS BSNS.

It brings me good memories too... Wakabayashi (a.k.a Benji) was my first and only anime crush, but I grew out of it a long time ago. And you wouldn't believe how much of a fan I was. I even had a Super Campeones lunch box, with stickers. I was so proud of it... *blushes*

    RE: Asa Made Jugyou Chu!

This is poorly plotted softcore pornography masquerading as poorly plotted comedy. It's not even GOOD softcore pornography. Why am I even reading this oh yeah bad manga is kinda my thing.

EDIT - Aaaaand it's starting to move beyond just being softcore. Fucksake. I'm glad this is only 7 chapters.

  • If a manga series is bad, it's hard, if not impossible, to expect that the animated version will be any good.
  • Oh god just have my notes:

Oh? What is this, some slight semblance of a romance subplot? Will this Manga be redeemed?

    Spoilers - Nope.

Someone tell me who wrote this utter fucking nonsense so I can punch them in their bits. Preferably, bits they need to live.

Oh don't mind me I'm just going to randomly get my tits out WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU WOMAN

"AH! I am the principal! I know all the secrets, and I exist only to introduce conflict in the most ludicrous ways by forcing people into situations where they are forced to break the rules I set MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" Suggestion - Tell her to fuck off and just go to another school, dumbass.

Dear Translators - "YOU BEAST. IT IS YOU TO GIVE UP" is not a fucking sentence. It's an epileptic fit on a keyboard.

School council president now wants him because she thinks he's gay. DEAR SCHOOL COUNCIL PRESIDENT, I THINK I HAVE FOUND A SMALL FLAW IN YOUR BRILLIANT PLAN.

And now he's assigned to...measure the girl's Hips, waist and bust measurements? Why? Oh, wait, softcore porn, makes perfect sense.

And now she just came immediately from getting her chest measured and her nipple brushed in the process. I currently can't tell which I hate more, this manga, or myself for reading it.

Only positive things about this manga so far - the little baby elephant icon they use to represent his penis is adorable.

Okay, the first genuinely hilarious moment just happened - Two characters with huge boobs getting in a boob-to-boob staredown, and another random character just walks up and KARATE CHOPS THEM BOTH RIGHT IN THE BOOB. WHAT IS EVEN GOING ON HERE.

"Don't be stingy, boob woman" With what, the attentions of the guy who doesn't want much to do with either of you and just wants to quietly go to school and finish his bloody scholarship? This is what is wrong with the youth of today.

oh god now the flat-chested one that isn't a dude is insisting the dude molests the president for no reason whatsoever. My face is permanently stuck somewhere between horrified and confused.

Somehow by snagging the measuring tape that wasn't being held against the president with the video camera that they're filming the body measurement bollocks with causes you to yank down her shorts? This is like being punched in the brain with tiny fists made of tits and bad writing.

NOW EVERYBODY IS STRIPPING YAY TITS FOR EVERYONE PLEASE KILL ME

Apparently her brilliant plan to stop more trouble is to make the main character fall in love with her so she can quote Extract whatever I want from him endquote. I'm pretty sure she's talking about semen.

"A SPIDER BIT ME YOU NEED TO SUCK THE VENOM OUT" "Where did it bite you" *points downward* Stop me if you've heard this joke before.

Oh god now the spider apparently bit her literally everywhere.

(End of translated chapters, and possibly my life, if they translate any more)
  • There's batshit insanity, and then there's Churba reading bad manga.

Sorry Dudette. (I normally call girls and guys dudes, so I thought it was the safer choice)
Benji was a badass! He was the sole reason I became a goalkeeper back in my country. Though they never allowed me to wear cool baseball caps like him when I was a kid.

Also, he was never emo, not once in the whole show (well maybe a little on his first match against Oliver when someone score a goal to him, but he learned and he became even more badass)
  • That cocky kid always had the attitude and confidence I lacked. That's why I liked him so much. I played a little football in school too, but I was more of a defender, like Monkey Boy Bruce. You can't even start to imagine how happy I am about finding another Captain Tsubasa fan. Especially here :3.

There are several football series I've seen, but my 2nd fave one was one made by the same creator of CT. Hungry Heart. Somehow, the fact that the art in the anime looks nothing like the manga makes it fresher, cooler, more realistic.

I gotta check that one out then. For the longest time I was on a dry spell of sports anime. I blame it on AWO for introducing me to Osamu Tezuka. I kind of started to disregard recent shows unless they were movies, and started to look to the past. Completely forgetting that current shows are getting inspired by the old anime that I loved as a kid.
By the way did you ever get the to play the old nes games/ snes games. I played them as rom on my PC in Japanese with a walkthough but only to see some of the techniques I never got to see on the TV series.

It is pretty to the anime if you ask me

Also, being part of the defense is hard one must run like crazy in order to defend and be ready for the counter-attack. Now I am either a mid-fielder and if needed a goalkeeper. Thought being a goalkeeper during winter in the states sucks so much :(
