  • Earl has the best rhymes and flow of anyone in OF, and I honestly think that Tyler is way better on his tracks with Earl than anywhere else.
  • Yeah he is by far the best, he has incredible wordplay but doesn't over complicate it like some tend to do. The only thing I don't really like about his stuff since he got back to the US is deadpan drawl he's adopted.
  • Yeah, his tone is a little flat, but he's probably the only member of OF at this point who is trying to make interesting rhymes.
  • Tyler, The Creator came out with a new album. It's dope. Listen to it.
It's solid and I enjoyed it, but it's also really bloated and I don't particularly see myself revisiting it.
There's always a few songs I can listen to for a long time on a Tyler album. I still listen to French, Bastard, Yonkers, and Golden. As far as Wolf goes, Jamba and Colossus stand out right now.

Yeah Colossus, Lone, and Answer were the highlight songs of the CD IMO. Rusty was pretty decent as well. Domo is usually sort of a doofus because all he raps about is being high from what I've seen and his rhymes and flow are really bland but he went hard on that track.

  • I love me some DR, but seems like last I heard they were at the end of their run under that flag. But in case this wasn't mentioned earlier in the thread, for the Anime heads, Rapping 2 U by Das Racist dropped that Samurai Champloo on the track and it's still a gnarly-balls song years later.

I've got to admit here that I've been listening to too-much Trinidad James to be healthy for anyone who doesn't actively hit 'tha purp'. I think because he dropped that Goldeneye N64 reference in All Gold Everything and has a song called Madden on Gamecube
  • I'll believe it when it's released.

I've been finding a big pile of rap I hadn't head yet. This one samples Guns of Brixton:

Homeboy Sandman has some relentless verses, plus this song has a gorgeous jazz sample in it:

And Shad wrote a perfect song about being cheap:

Well that's weird, this dude was part of the rap scene at my college. I remember liking him cause his shit was incredibly different compared to what most other ppl were doing. Looks like he's doing pretty well so good for him.

Chris Webby was also part of that scene, and he sucks so much ahha.

  • Man in the Mirror is probably old to you guys but it's super legit.
  • Why? Because, Why?
  • So Kendrick Lamar lit shit up with his verse here

I originally was listening because... well... Riff Raff. But then fuck me, this girl shows up...

How did I miss this for like, a year? I'd heard her before but this track kills.

  • So people where getting pretty hyped for Chrono Jigga, but now 2 Mellow has Nastlevania which I believe is vastly superior.
  • This beat is amazing

  • Also new Danny Brown single, Old is gonna be dope.

  • Oh Danny Brown, spit you wild, wild devil.
  • I'm really enjoying Jay-Z - Magna Carta Holy Grail

On my first cursory listening it was nothing amazing but then I listened to it again while not doing other stuff and was amazed at what I had missed the first time round.

My current favourite is Picasso Baby but like the collaboration with Nas and also Holy Grail the opener where Justin Timberlake actually sounds quite good.

I don't understand the reasoning that many had where they thought Kanye West's - Yeezus was a superior album.

    I guess it's taste.
  • MCHG is definitely superior to Yeezus. That's saying a good amount, but neither album is, IMO, top form from either. Tom Ford is my favorite track between them.

  • Fight music.

I decided to try out that fancy new search bar thing and paste this here. I spent way too much time writing it on Facebook, now I want to justify my investment.

Sims is a genius. In these four lines nearly every word is assonant and/or consonant with the word after it; the words that aren't are unmphasized. The first line looks like it shouldn't rhyme with the next two, but he used his accent to do it anyway. He hops in between the first and second quarter note of the beat with a half-rhyme to the next word, then uses another half-rhyme like a drum fill at the end of the second bar to transition into the middle section of the verse. His cadence is simultaneously rhythmically consistent and emotional. Conceptually he wrote a traditional intro then related it to a couple of personal and societal statements. This guy read the whole rap rule book then tore it up and smoked it.

The song is Gander Back by Doomtree. The other two rappers on this track are just as dope as Sims. I didn't write these lyrics, I just wanted to write about them. Support real rap; I'll finally have some of my own to share with you soon.

  • So it came out a while ago but that new Freddie Gibbs and Madlib collaboration is fucking out of control. Cocaine Pinata is the truth.
  • The Step Brothers album Lord Steppington came out around the same and is also good.

  • That's dope as hell. I just discovered Ratking, which is in a similar vein.

Listening to Clppng now. The rest of this album is even better. It's like a 55 minute kick in the chest.
